Clan Wolf is a Clan in Battletech, notable for being Nicholas Kerensky's personal Clan and being one of the most depicted Clans.

History[edit]

Clan Wolf was created in 2807. The Clan has the honor of being Nicholas Kerensky's chosen Clan and have exclusive rights to his genetic material. During Operation: KLONDIKE it was involved in the invasion of Eden. The Clan absorbed Clan Widowmaker sometime after a driving off Clan Wolverine. Nicholas was killed during the battle.

During the 30th century, Clan Wolf emerged as the leader of the Warden Faction.

Culture[edit]

Clan Wolf is notable for allowing a greater degree of individual freedom than most Clans, as they understand that a clan is just as much a group of individuals as it is a greater whole. While the caste system still exists and Warriors are still considered cream of the crop, all members are allowed to voice their concerns like normal people. They also generally don't have special rituals or trials for their warriors to go through before they become full-blooded, reasonably assuming that having grown up in Clan Wolf was enough to make sure they were worth it. That didn't stop some of their military from having special rites for bonding reasons, but compared to the rest of the Clans, Clan Wolf seems downright progressive. They however refrain from using cybernetics if they can help it, preferring to give their well-developed genetics labs a chance to shine by simply re-growing them in a vat.

While among the peak of Clan warriors, Clan Wolf is also very adept at working politics, dropping people with scathing one liners just as harsh as any shot from a gun. Because of this (as well as their prodigious influence in Clan Space), Wolf would emerge in the 30th century as the leader of the Warden faction of the Clans; a moderate, more passive way of looking at the Inner Sphere. This would fracture after the Clan Invasion, however, as their Spheroid leadership and warriors and Clanspace leadership and warriors found each other at odds, and eventually after being officially abjured, the Spheroid Wolf would work to adopt more traditional clan ideologies in order to prove themselves, but it has caused issues among their castes.

Meta Stuff[edit]

Clan Wolf has something of a reputation of being the Mary Sue Clan. It was Nicholas Kerensky's personal Clan, became one of the most powerful and influential Clans, actually win their objective at the battle of Tukkayid and eventually managed to take Terra and become the IlClan. Although, a lot of their success can be attributed to proper planning and preparation, such as at Tukkayid, or how they couldn’t have gotten so far without outside help, like how they wouldn’t have gotten to Terra had Devlin Stone not let them in. Not to mention the number of times where suffered terrible losses, such as during the Refusal War, where they were nearly destroyed as a result of the war.
