Manannan mac Lir is the Celtic god of the oceans and all creatures of the sea. He appears as a gigantic man wearing armor made of metal and seashells, wielding a bastard sword, and riding a chariot drawn by various sea creatures.
The Lord of the Capes considers the ocean to be no different from a vast plain, with the various fishes no different from sheep or cattle. He respects those who master the seas, but is uncaring towards those who fail and drown in them. He also hates fire giants, his sword having been enchanted to immediately slay any it hits.
Clerics and druids of mac Lir rarely leave the coastal regions and villages they watch over, unless necessary for the continued safety and prosperity of the seas. They watch over and protect the oceans and any creatures dwelling in them.

In Ravenloft, Manannan mac Lir is worshipped only in the domain of Tepest. Here, he's the brother of Brigantia, and one of the more commonly worshipped gods in the domain. He still retains dominion over water-dwelling creatures, but is known as the god of rivers and lakes instead of oceans, since Tepest is located inland.
