Plains Giants are one of the giant species native to the Dungeons & Dragons world of Dark Sun, and the only one present which lives amongst the wastes and badlands of the Tablelands instead of out in the Sea of Silt... or at least so you would think from the name, but nope; they actually live on islands in the Sea of Silt, just like their Desert Giant relatives. Noted for their elfin facial features, Plains Giants are usually from 20 to 25 feet tall and weigh from six to eight tons, with a deep rust or dark brown skin. Their hair is light colored, very often blond to light brown, but lighter and thinner than desert giant hair, which makes it more valuable to Athasian humanoids.

These giants claim the most verdant and fertile islands in the Sea Of Silt, where they fiercely defend their holdings from all comers, such as infestations of Silt Runners or rival giants. Typically living in a clan of 5-10 members, they rear herds of Athasian animals and supplement their meat with carefully cultivated vegetation and forage. Like their Desert Giant cousins, they are resistant to psionics, and defend themselves with hurled stones, stone daggers, and massive clubs.

Of all the giants that inhabit the Sea of Silt, plains giants are the breed most likely to come to the mainland and make peaceful interaction. They typically find work as builders, salvage workers, wrecking crewmen, or even mercenaries, although this last field is seen as dishonorable.
