Thorek Ironbrow, being a boomer

Thorek Ironbrow, also known as The Ultimate Dwarf Boomer is the Master Runelord of Karak Azul and, some say, the greatest Dwarf Runelord alive with only Kragg The Grim being his only actual equal. He's also notable for being a set-in-his-ways crotchety conservative by Dawi Standards. He is known for making the finest weapons, being a traditionalist who shuns reckless youngster engineer with their "new" gunpowder technology (for reference, dwarfs invented gunpowder before Sigmar was born), and being a perfectionist who never made a mistake. He is also the bane of any Apprentice Runesmith who would kick them out in the most brutal manner for even the smallest mistake that other Runesmiths and Runelords would simply point out and tell to fix (Kraggi was kicked out multiple times for this, but somehow Thorek would take him in again and again for some reason). Thorek died during the End Times, perpetrating a suicide bombing by shattering his split Anvil of Doom after crawling back up with one arm since Neferata stabbed him and tossed him into a crevice while his expedition to discover the Lost Archway of Valaya was attacked by armies of Nagash.

Total War: WARHAMMER[edit]

Thorek was added as a FLC lord in the Hammers & Herdstones update. In the vortex campaign, the old boomer led an expedition to Lustria in order to uncovered lost Artifacts of the Dwarfs' Golden Age and reforge them into a powerful power-creep army abilities or items that allows his army to steamroll any enemies. These artifacts are ancient even by Dwarf standards and include both mechanical devices and rune magics.

One of the reforged artifact is a rune collar that allows the Dwarf to tame a Carnosaur, hinting the possibility of adding Shard Dragons in the Dawi roster. Curious, the collar belongs to a possible Dwarf ancestor god named Raton, which the internet nor the rulebook has references of.

Thorek stars his campaign either in the southern end of Sotek's Spine Mountains in Lustria (if you are playing Eye of the Vortex) or in the far southern worlds edge mountains in the lost hold of Karak Zorn in Mortal Empires.

Since he is a traditionalist, he prefers the use of old tools of war like Grudge Throwers, Bolt Throwers and crossbows and buff their damage and armor piercing to a ridiculous level, surpassing the armor piercing damage of "more recent" gunpowder inventions (again for reference, Dwarfs have had Flintlocks for 722 years). Being a Rune Lord, Thorek can slap a rune on his bolt thrower, turning their shots into guided tomahawk missiles that deals anti-large damage, and once again surpass the damage output and accuracy of cannons. In fact, even his unique skills dramatically increase the capabilities of the most basic Dwarf units, thus creating an army that is both powerful and very cost effective.

In his Klad Brakkak quest battle, he came across a dawi engineer by the name Jorek Grimm (whom is also a unique Dwarf engineer hero working for Markus Wulfhart's faction), whom he had well acquainted previously and loath, even more so after caught the said wazzock stealing his Dread Saurian prey aka The Big One. Fed up with Jorek being a Thaggi and a zoomer-engineer, Thorek decided to put the wazzock in place by not only to beat the zoomer out of Jorek, but to also ensure he will be the one to take The Big One's dead remain for his runesmithing.
