==Gameplay== This classic game used to not require reading or math skills, but now it does! To start play, each player rolls a Quick d6 (rolling the d6 and adding their Quick trait score to the result). The person with the highest result goes first, and in case of a tie, the person with the highest Quick trait goes first. '''On your turn,''' draw one card from the movement card deck and move your character pawn as directed below. You then have a chance of encountering a Baddie. If you encounter one, see the '''Combat''' section below. If you are fortunate enough to evade any Baddies, your turn is over. Whichever event you experience, you must place the movement card you used in the discard pile. '''Cards: When you draw a card with one color block,''' move you pawn forward toward the Candy Castle to the first matching color space on the path. '''When you draw a card with two color blocks,''' move your pawn forward toward the Candy Castle to the second matching color space on the path. '''When you draw a Picture card,''' move your pawn forward or backward on the path to the ''PINK'' space on the board that matches the 'PINK'' picture square on your card. For example, if you draw a 'CANDY CANE/MR. MINT'' card, move your pawn to the pink space on the board that shows the candy cane. Pink squares are safe havens where Baddies cannot attack you, thanks to the powerful person guarding that square. '''Movement:''' 1. Always move in the direction of the signposts, unless a Picture card directs you to move backwards on the path. 2. Two or more characters may be on the same space at the same time. If one character is on a space, and another character lands on it and encounters a Baddie, all characters on the space may work together to fight the Baddie (see '''Combat''') for more details. 3. Shortcuts: There are 2 shortcuts on the path- the Rainbow Trail and the Gumdrop Pass. If your character lands, by exact count, on the orange space below the Rainbow Trail or on the yellow space below the Gumdrop Pass, you can take the shortcut immediately by moving your pawn to the purple space above the Rainbow Trail or the green space above the Gumdrop Pass. 4. Licorice Spaces: There are 3 Licorice Spaces on the path. These Licorice spaces were put here by the sneak Lord Licorice to try to slow you down. If you land on one of these spaces by exact count, your character is stuck there for one turn. 5. Play as above until a player reaches the multicolored rainbow space near the Candy Castle. 6. If your character is defeated by a Baddie, you return to the last pink space on the board you passed. '''Combat:''' Now for the most part, the instructions above have been pretty similar to the original Candy Land rules, and for good reason, as I copied them straight out of the original rulebook. Here's where things get a little bit different (and a lot more fun). Whenever you land on a new space, Lord Licorice rolls his black licorice die (the black d6). If he rolls a 4, 5, or 6, he draws a Baddie card from the Baddie Deck and places it face up for the player to fight. Combat proceeds as written below: 1. Both the player and the Baddie must roll Quick to see who gets to go first. The person with the higher Quick roll gets to go first (in case of a tie, the person with the higher Quick trait goes first, and if that is a tie as well, the player goes first). The person that gets to go first is the attacker, and the other person becomes the defender. 2. The attack rolls Strong to see if he can hit his opponent, and the defender rolls Quick to try and dodge the attack. In the case of a tie, the defender always wins. 3. If the attack hits, the attacker rolls Strong again, this time to deal damage. He adds his Strong trait to the die roll, dealing damage equal to his roll plus his Strong trait. The defender rolls Tough to try and resist some of the damage. He adds his Tough trait to the die roll, resisting damage equal to his roll plus his Tough trait. If the defender rolls a higher Tough than the attacker’s Strong, the defender still takes 1 point of damage. 4. After damage is resolved, the attacker becomes the defender, and vice versa. This continues until either the player or the Baddie is defeated, or the player flees from combat. 5. If the Baddie is defeated, the player gains a number of Baddie Tokens based on the Baddie’s level (Trash Baddies: 1 Token, Moderate Baddies: 2 Tokens, Elite Baddies: 3 Tokens). 6. If the player is defeated, he returns to the last pink space he passed. 7. If the player wants to flee from combat, he must roll Quick and get a total of 8 or higher to successfully run away. The Baddie is then reshuffled into the Baddie deck. 8. If two or more players are in the same space and a Baddie is encountered, both players can work together to fight the Baddie. After each round of combat, Lord Licorice can roll to see if another Baddie joins the battle (must roll a 5 or 6). He can do until there are a number of Baddies equal to the number of characters on a square. If a Baddie is defeated, he may not add another Baddie to the battle. '''Player Defeat:''' If a player is defeated by a Baddie, he must return to the last pink space he passed (but not necessarily the last pink space he landed on) and he loses all Baddie tokens and items, his trait scores revert to the values printed on his character's card, and he must reroll his hit points. '''Increasing Traits:''' After a player accumulates three or more Baddie Tokens, he can exchange them for an increase to one of his traits (Strong, Quick, Tough, Heal) or his Hit Points by 1. '''Item Cards:''' There are two ways to get Item cards. The first method is to simply land on a pink space, which automatically lets you draw an Item card from the Item deck. The second method is to exchange 3 Baddie Tokens for a draw from the Item deck. Items have various effects, most of which are beneficial. '''Winning the Game:''' If you are the first person to reach the multicolored rainbow space, you’ve reached the Candy Castle. But it’s not over yet! Now you have to face the nefarious Lord Licorice! The first player to defeat Lord Licorice (no easy task) and rescue the Candy King wins the game and saves the day!
