'''Banshees''' (derived from Béan Sídhe or Ban-sith) are a [[Psychopomp]] from Irish Celtic Mythology, a species of [[Fey]] whose appearance as either a keening (screaming/wailing) woman or a woman washing bloodstained clothes in a river foretells of a person's death. In many /tg/ media, they are instead a kind of [[undead]] [[fey]], with [[Dungeons & Dragons]] in particular turning them into the [[ghost]]s of evil [[elves]] whose scream literally kills anybody who hears it. They're a subset of Haunt in the [[Companion Set]], so are turned like [[ghosts]] there.

[[Dark Sun]] had ''dwarf banshees'', undead dwarves who died with some unfinished work. Anyone who hears the dwarf banshee's cry or makes eye contact with it may be forced into a berserker rage, fighting everyone around them.
