Awlrach
The new Nighthaunt character for Third Edition, Awlrach the Drowner is a character so silly he kind of wraps around to being cool again.
The Legend
Awlrach was a ferryman from Aqshy, who would take men across the sea to a pleasant land of orchards; or so he claimed. In reality he drowned them halfway through his voyages, only completing them in order to gather fruit to verify his lies. After nearly a decade, his crimes were finally revealed, and an angry mob descended on him. It took eight men to overpower and bind him, and even when they tossed him into the sea he was able to drag three of them to die alongside him. Which given that he was so physically strong in life, makes you question why he even went through the whole evil ferryman deal if he wanted to kill people.
Unlike other Nighthaunt, Nagash actually approved of his deeds, admiring how he pursued death for death's sake. So it was that Nagash turned him into a ferryman of the dead, harvesting souls and bringing them where they needed to go. Unlike other Nighthaunt, he sees his fate not as a curse, but a blessing, because now he gets to do what he loves for the rest of eternity.
