Duel Masters
Where, oh where, to start?
Duel Masters was/is a Japanese TCG that could be categorized as the Reeses Peanut Butter Pieces of collectible card games, merging aspects of Yu-Gi-Oh and Magic: The Gathering into something surprisingly fresh. Like Yu-Gi-Oh, Duel Masters started as a 1999-early 2000s manga series that was picked up for anime adaptation and got a card game printed in the bargain.
When the anime was released in the West, Wizards of the Coast licensed the game for production. As you might have guessed, they killed it off after about 2 years because it was threatening to dethrone Magic. The game continues to be popular in its native Japan, and continues to get new sets released to this day.
Does it really need an article on 1d4chan? Probably not, considering we haven't seen an English release of Duel Masters since 2014.
