Never will there be a more fair and honest realm in the whole of the galaxy. Never again.

- Konstantyn Ibirien, answering a student's question on Kyuw

The Forgeworld of Kyuw (kiːuv) is shrouded in mystery since the planet and its surrounding satellites were completely erased during the Heresy. Kyuw was renowned for its remarkable fairness, valuing free thought and ethical practices above all. Signs show that Kyuw was largely secular, with few religious leanings. Alexandri Ibirien brought the Forgeworld to swear fealty to him when he created the Kuzgeta Defense Sphere.

History

Little is understood of Kyuw's pre-Crusade past. Speculations abound based on what is known however. Historians on the Knight World Kazak have been able to piece together some information from their archives. Kyuw was a largely egalitarian society that believed in representative government, and unalienable rights of all its citizens. Strangely the Priesthood of Kyuw were very conscious as to the needs of their workers allowing for an extremely stable environment for production. Despite regulated breaks and lax demands, productivity on Kyuw matched equivalent Forgeworlds. Reports and written memoirs reveal that Kyuw was greatly afraid of invasion or raiding, leading some to suspect they did not have a strong standing garrison of Taghmata Omnissiah.

Old warp charts how shown that the routes going through Kyuw were quite stable, making it an easy port for traders to pool through. Xenos raiders would have certainly been a concern. This is likely what lead to their early inclusion into the Kuzgeta Defense Sphere. Alexandri was careful to keep the Forgeworld protected early on, helping it by designing himself a ring of weapon platforms to orbit the planet. These would ward off most enemies from the outside, and make them seek for more tempting targets elsewhere. The forgeries of Kyuw suited the Kuzgetan Defensive Forces demands, making plenty of flak armor and lasguns for the troops. It did not however, make anything greater than that. Kyuw could hardly even support the Knight World of Kazan, much less a Titan Legion. It is not known what happened to their original Titans, but it thought they perhaps were lost in a defensive action before Alexandri ever made contact with them.

Rediscovery

Kyuw came into the Imperium's fold along with Rosskar and the other Kuzgetan worlds. Immediately Kyuw was set to rates of production unprecedented for the small planet. Crisis set upon them, as quotas far exceeded what was thought possible. Instead of their society completely disintegrating from the demand, it saw a population rise thought impossible for a planet with no atmosphere or biosphere. The patronage of Alexandri helped it with the copious foodstuffs from Rosskar itself. With cheap rations, workers were able to subsidized to allow growth. The standard of living dipped below what Kyuw desired, largely due to the production of Power Armor which required living space be sacrificed for newly built foundries.

The Heresy

Kyuw was torn during the Civil War, with political factions pockmarking its surface like cysts. Heroic efforts in the archives of several planets to understand what transpired before the disappearance of the Forgeworld have led to this series of events being unveiled:

Kyuw welcomed in an Agent from Mars representing the Dark Mechanicum to the surface of their world. The meeting was official, with the man expected to speak to the Assembly of Voices. It was expected this Agent would make strides to pull the Forgeworld towards the cause of the Dark Mechanicum. After an hour, when this aim was made too difficult to reasonably obtain, Kyuw was reported by Battlefleet Kuzgeta to have completely disappeared.

Not a single sign or trace of Kyuw's presence even remained. Astrological data from nearby Forgeworlds explain that it was once there, and then it wasn't. There was no explosions, and no trace of any form of weapon used. It vanished. This would be a chilling reminder of the abilities of the Dark Mechanicum upon the rest of the Imperium. The loss of Kyuw affected the entire Segmentum Pacificus, particularly Rosskar. Rebuilding Rosskar became impossible without the industry of the Forgeworld.
