The Merkhants are one of Planescape's "planar sects", minor factions who have little influence in Sigil. They believe that money is power, and if you hoard enough material wealth, you will eventually be able to buy dominion over the entire multiverse. They are most active in the Outlands, where trade routes between the planes often cross.
