Bloody Knuckles & Domino Masks
Bloody Knuckles & Domino Masks is a homebrew setting written by two anons who were inspired by a set of images depicting Public Domain Super Heroes that were posted on /tg/ in a supers thread. They wanted to build a world founded on the rich history of Public Domain heroes which are mostly WWII-era golden age comic and pulp characters that weren't purchased by Marvel or DC, and never had their copyrights renewed. Certain characters, such as Dr. Sivana and Captain Marvel, are only considered public domain in those golden age comics that fell into public domain and were not copyrighted. Other golden age appearances that are copyrighted belong to DC comics. These characters can be used or avoided as you please, so long as you are not using the characters in a way that violates their copyright and is as such illegal.
The game is best played using a homebrew to be used with the Storyteller Core system by White Wolf, called More Than Human. Any stats provided on this page will be done so using that system. Why choose a random Storyteller homebrew as the default for a superhero setting instead of something more mainstream like Mutants & Masterminds? Largely because Storyteller was a favorite of the two anons that have written this world, but also because Storyteller emulates the kind of lethal, dynamic, and gritty violence and combat that this setting has in mind. There was a distinct desire to contrast the flamboyance and idealism of golden age heroes with a very brutal type of violence that isn't done quite the same in other superhero games. Also, the character creation using Storyteller and More Than Human is pretty fun, and it accurately depicts the abilities of the setting's many colorful characters.
