The Carnival of Chaos is, as the name suggests, a Chaos-aligned warband from the pages of Mordheim which works its wicked wiles within The Empire by disguising itself as a travelling circus through the use of powerful illusions, dropping their veil of normality only when they are ready to strike against their victims. Rivals to the Cult of the Possessed, the Carnival debuted in Town Cryer #27. Despite what you might initially think, the Carnival's loyalty is not owed to Slaanesh, but instead to the darkly jovial Nurgle, thanks to his love of black humor.

The leader of a Carnival of Chaos is a Carnival Master, a variant Magister who uses Nurgle-based spells.

For Heroes, the Carnival can take up to 2 Brutes, and up to 2 Tainted Ones. Brutes are enormously strong and powerful devotees of Nurgle, whose disfigurements are usually concentrated around their face; they fill the role of the Possessed as the Carnival's "heavy hitter" Hero, but they don't cause Fear and they have no mutations - they do start play with the Strongman skill, though. Tainted Ones are mutants with access to the Carnival's unique Nurgle-centric list of mutations, and function identically to the Mutants in the Cult of the Possessed. They often act as the Carnival's Jesters.

For Henchmen, alongside the same Brethren as the Cult of the Possessed, the Carnival can take Nurglings, up to 2 Plaguebearers, and up to 1 Plague Cart, a daemon-possessed cart that serves the Carnival mainly by bolstering the ties that link its daemonic henchmen to the material plane.

The Carnival of Chaos has the unique special rule "Dangerous to Know", which means they cannot hire Mercenaries to supplement their ranks.
