Infinity/N4 Tactics/Yu Jing
An overview for faction units and tactics in N4. WIP
Why Play Yu Jing?[edit | edit source]
Do you like EFFICIENCY?
Do you like BEING SECRETLY OVERPOWERED?
Do you like POWER ARMOR?
Do you like KUNG FU?
Then enlist in the Yu Jing armored corps! Open to all citizens regardless of affiliation, background, or criminal record, Yu Jing delights in your desire to serve the Empire and rewards valued service by wiping the slate clean. Yu Jing is represented by the most varied and technologically advanced servopowered armor in the Human Sphere; other nations might claim some degree of individual excellence, but nobody can deny the breadth or scale of Yu Jing's investment in heavy armor dwarfs all other Powers.
As a Yu Jing commander, you will solve your problems with a power armored fist. For all needs, you have a heavy infantry trooper; need a sneaky infiltrator who can climb walls? We have a suit of heavy armor with a tactical poncho. Need overwhelming firepower? We made man-portable TAG guns and strapped them to a miniature TAG chassis. Want elite melee combatants? We've got 'em in spades -- in standard and Monofilament sword flavours. And of course, if all you need is a quality gun carried by a competent soldier, you'll be spoiled for choice.
Welcome to the Party, Tongzhi.
Faction Features[edit | edit source]
- The Heaviest Armor: Yu Jing boasts the widest assortment of heavy infantry in the Sphere. The strength of this strategy is that you'll be able to take more punishment, deal more damage, and have a greater influence on the battlefield. The downside is your troops will be more vulnerable to hacking and might be quickly, if temporarily, rendered ineffective by programs or e/m ammunition.
- Efficiency: Heavy armor is expensive, which means Yu Jing has to make use of its cheap infantry to support them; thankfully, they have plenty of ways to both generate and use cheap orders. Many Yu Jing HI come with Tactical Awareness, a skill that allows them an additional order for themselves only, or NCO, which allows them to use the Lt's order without revealing your Lt. Yu Jing is also flush with Regular orders, as, aside from a few exceptions, every trooper in the army is Regular.
- Martial Prowess: In both the practical and wuxia sense; Yu Jing is a professional standing army, made up of professional soldiers. With very few exceptions, every troop provides a Regular order, vanishingly few Yu Jing troops are Impetuous, and Frenzy is unheard of. Yu Jing troops are also well versed in Close Combat, having generally higher CC stats than most similar troops, and a handful of elite close combat experts who can slip across the battlefield and deliver a devastating deathblow in hand-to-hand combat.
Special Skills[edit | edit source]
- Tactical Awareness: A number of Yu Jing troops have Tactical Awareness, a powerful skill that allows the trooper to generate an additional Irregular order that only they can spend; this allows you to break the order efficiency of the game and squeeze a little more power out of your already exceptional attack troopers.
- NCO: Similar to Tactical Awareness, Yu Jing troops with NCO allow them to spend the Lt's order on themselves without revealing the Lt's identity. The Daoying, one of Yu Jing's premier Lts, gets a second Lt order that NCOs can further spend, allowing your expert gunfighters or elite specialists to provide support without digging into your Regular order pool.
- Martial Arts: Yu Jing troops, in general, have high CC stats than most other equivalents in other armies. Starting at humble Shaolin Monks at the low end, the scale continues to the midpoint in the form of Cranes and Hulangs, before topping off at the high end with the Guijia, a super-jumping, sword swinging TAG.
Weapons and Equipment[edit | edit source]
- Heavy Weapons: Yu Jing is spoiled for choice when it comes to primary attack troops. We've a large assortment of some of the best HMG-equipped troops in the game, man-portable TAG weapons on the Yan Huo, and speedy or mid-field deployable Spitfires on the Su Jian or Daofei.
- Multi-Spectral Visors: MSV comes on multiple common Yu Jing troops, allowing them to equalize the odds when fighting troops your opponent 'believes' are superior combatants.
- Camouflage: Yu Jing's camo game is on par with Ariadna in some ways. While our skirmishers are more expensive, they are significantly more effective in direct combat; the baseline Guilang skirmisher comes with mines and MSV1, allowing them to hunt the midfield, midcost Zhencha can climb up walls and assassinate priority targets, and Daofei are legendary for the kind of havoc they can cause. A camo focused Yu Jing list spews camo markers all the way up the battlefield, any one of which could be hiding a shotgun, mine, or multi-wound Spitfire.
Units Overview[edit | edit source]
Light Infantry[edit | edit source]
- Bao Troops: Quintessential cops, the leopard troopers are swollen with unearned authority. They got massively pruned down in N4, losing their X-visor and consolidating their profiles to down to three different loadouts. They're effective against camouflage and impersonators.
- Celestial Guard: The regiment tasked with guarding the Imperial Palace grounds, Celestial Guards make excellent hackers.
- Gui Feng Xi Zhuang: Xi Zhuang was good enough to take in N3, and he's back with a vengeance in N4. Xi is absolutely loaded with gear. Strongly recommended, as adding him to any list only makes it better.
- Imperial Agents, Pheasant Rank: Auxiliary command troops, Pheasants are more than capable of picking up the slack if your Lt goes down. Featuring Chain of Command at baseline, Pheasants fulfil an important specialist role, with a variety of support loadouts such as hackers or Madtrap minelayers. Notably, the Tactical Awareness Red Fury Pheasant is one of the few high burst specialists, making her ideal for a late turn 3 objective run.
- Kuang Shi: Made up of dissenters, traitors, and criminals too heinous to be rehabilitated, Kuang Shi are how YJ can afford all of its high value troops. Aggressively costed and Dogged, Kuang Shi are designed to scream across the table and trade life for life with enemy troops.
- Major Lunah, ex-Aristeia! Sniper: A former bloodsport superstar who publicly renounced her Haqqislam citizenship to join Yu Jing, Lunah brings her expert marksmanship, which she uses to great effect. Already quite good in N3, She was massively buffed in N4, and makes an excellent ARO or active turn shooter.
- Mech-Engineers (Zhanshi Gongcheng): Our cheapest engineer. Pretty important when a big chunk of your army is allergic to E/M ammo. If you take him, give him a Yaozao as well.
- Chief Mech-Engineer Chung-Hee Jeong: A new addition with the Betrayal manga. While he's pretty pricy for a 1W trooper at 29-30 pts, Chief Jeong packs a smorgasbord of custom gear and interesting utility. On top of bringing a WIP 14 engineer, he's got the only K1 weapon in all of YJ (and his is Dam 14 to boot). The LRL profile carries a decent midrange weapon that hits like an HRL in his hands. But maybe most interesting is the fact that he carries a repeater, but is not hackable himself. That means he can walk into ZoC of enemy hackers with impunity, while your hackers make short work of the opposition.
- Tian Gou, Orbital Activity Squad: These guys come with a 360 visor and Holomask. Perfect for baiting the opponent into a trap from time to time. They've a variety of useful profiles and are cheap, quality killer hackers that will be impossible for your opponent to see coming.
- Zhanshi: The humble Zhanshi is mostly here to provide orders. Don't forget that Zhanshi have a LT profile - while it pales in comparison to some other Yu Jing options, you may occasionally find a use for it.
- Zhanshi Yisheng: Your only doctor. Yu Jing's high tier troops all have wounds; it's a very good idea to have a doctor on standby to get a little extra value out of them. If you do take her, don't skimp on expenses and give her a Yaozao.
- Zhanying Imperial Agents: The first tier of Imperial Service Agents (Pheasants are the second), Zhanying are the beat cops and detectives that make up the majority of the ISS police force. Their years on the force have given them an uncanny knack for detecting trouble, giving them Sixth Sense on all profiles. Also they have Bioimmunity. Most Zhanying have Sensor, making them excellent at dealing with enemy camo, and Breaker Combi Rifles are effective against almost everything in the game.
Mercenaries[edit | edit source]
- Aida Swanson, Submondo Smuggler: As a smuggler Booty is an obvious flavor thing, but still very nice from time to time. Forward deployment, MA L2 and Viral Mines, aswell as her SMG make her role of defending/taking the midfield obvious- she's not the cheapest choice for this role, but a competent one, especially if going first.
- Authorized Bounty Hunters: They've got Booty (ReRoll), also stealth can be quite neat in certain situations, but mostly they are a niche unit who can be nice to have if you want to bring something specific to your list you can't have on another unit for some reason.
- Miranda Ashcroft: Gets a bit more versatility and a general boost over the regular Bounty Hunter, but for her price she doesn't bring a lot to Yu Jing.
- Cube Jäger: Irregular parachutists, both profiles bring Paramedic, which seems to be their whole schtick. With WIP 13 they can do the button pressing quite well though and having a SMG and an e/mitter can be very useful to scare away the opponents units after a button is pushed.
- Knauf, Outlaw Sniper: While MSV1 snipers weren't that attractive in N3 the Outrage poster boy turned a whole lot hotter. BS (+1B) and Shock is nasty, and MIM (-3) makes using him a bit safer. Besides that he's not doing much, but that trait also keeps him at an affordable price.
- Krakot Renegades, Morat Fugitives: It’s weird that Krakot is typed as LI, as they are a straight up Warband unit. His purpose is to get up into the opponents face, kill as much as it can and die heroically, in a true Morat fashion. Worth considering for an Alpha Strike, if you can get one.
- Libertos Freedom Fighters: Are the highly popular irregular roadbump unit, coming with either a SMG, or a light shotgun plus shock mines. They also get Camouflage and Forward Deployment (8"), dodge on a 16 and have Dogged!
- Monstruckers: SPAAAACEEE TRUUUCKIIING! Monstruckers are cheap irregular engineers with Climbing Plus and a bunch of nice weapon options. The cheapest loadout comes with an SMG and Drop Bears, making it ideal to push a button and turn their position into a foxhole afterwards. The other two loadouts are also quite useful, just pick the one supplementing your lists loadout the most.
- Oktavia Grimsdóttir, Icebreake's Harpooner: A mercenary character with BS (+1B), Sixth Sense and Dogged. Whith a Missile Launcher and a Contender her role is as an ARO piece, but since she's expensive and barely filling any holes anywhere the main reason to bring her is the cool sculpts she got.
- REM-Racers, Mercenary Hacker-Pilots: These mercenaries bring quite the fun mechanic into the game: With REM-Driver they can buff a remote in the list depending on which loadout you pick! There's also a hacker profile, but Yu Jing has better options for that purpose.
- Taowu, Mastermind and Schemer: Another former A! superstar, Taowu is if you gave the phrase "All according to plan" a profile. Holomask encourages misdirection, and his skills turn him into a walking time bomb that explodes into templates and viral ammo if anything gets close. Also, his model is dope as hell.
- Warcors: 3pts for an irregular Flashpulse ARO. Fit them into your list whenever you got the slot and points, they're well worth it. The 360 visor Warcor is very useful to protect your DZ from enemy parachutists.
- Wild Bill, Legendary Gunslinger: He's fast at MOV 6-2, got (+1Dam) and shock on his BS, also he's got marksmanship and NWI. Neither the rifle nor the contender have a nice rangeband, but with the MULTI pistol he's got a positive rangeband from 0-16", which overall makes him a deadly close-range fighter.
Medium Infantry[edit | edit source]
- Daoying Operative Control Unit: Arguably one of the best lieutenants in the game. Camo keeps her safe, while Lieutenant L2 lets you spend two extra orders on a beefy beatstick or a single elite via NCO. The base LT loadout is the cheapest and is probably the best choice if you just want to power one of YJ's fantastic NCO options. The Hacker profile is solid and can use those 2 LT orders for late game objective rushes. The sniper provides an easy solution to an exposed enemy TR bot and gets Minelayer to hide and protect herself easier.
- Hùndùn Ambush Unit: These hidden deployment troops make a mean ARO threat, especially the Heavy Rocket Launcher and the Multi Sniper. The shock marksman rifle profile is an extremely deadly active turn shooter, and an interesting counterpart to Lei Gong's Albedo shock marksman rifle.
- Imperial Agent Adil Mehmut, Special Division: This character‘s packing a bunch of useful weapons and decent stats and skills to back them up, making him great in shooting and CC. On top of that he brings a specialist profile with Veteran or Chain of Command. Sensor comes in handy whenever you got to deal with a lot of Camo.
- Jing Qo, the Shadow of Huangdi: This mid- to close-range fighter gets a bunch of resilience-traits, get her into CC to make your target dead. Climbing+ gives her table flexibility, letting her get on top of irritating enemy infiltrators hiding on rooftops.
- Lei Gong, Invincibles Lord of Thunder: An A! alumni, Lei Gong has a highly optimized set of stats and provides some unique utility to Yu Jing. He's fast with 6-2 move, is an accurate BS13 MSV1 shooter, packs a Blitzen for long-range AROs or coordinated orders, is unhackable, and uniquely, has Albedo, meaning for the first round of the game, he is invisible to anybody with MSV. Both profiles are worth taking, with the SMR being a great budget shooter and the CoC a good specialist with WIP 14.
- Sun Tze v.2 (Marksman Leader): Poor Sun Tze. N4 really gutted his skills, and the nature of N4 means he's just not as good as he used to be. Great model, unfortunate profile.
- Tiger Soldiers: The infamous Yu Jing combat jump unit, Tigers would make great units even if they didn't show up in your opponent's DZ. Their stats and skills make them excellent at their job, and their profiles give you the right tool for most tasks.
- Ye Mao Infantry: These guys get MSV1, Mimetism-3 and Super-Jump. They have a few neat loadouts, making them relatively flexible (but not really cost-effective). A profile worth mentioning is the Engineer with Panzerfaust and D-Charges, and the AP Spitfire is one of the cheapest, most effective ways to get a high-burst AP weapon in YJ.
Mercenaries[edit | edit source]
- Armand 'Le Muet,' Freelance Killer: Dude is a relentlessly aggressive trooper that beats down any enemy at any range and even has an extra wound to boot. While poor old Armand cannot remember which side he's truly on; he's still an irritating ARO piece because of his -6 Mimetism. He also comes with the option of either a shock minelayer to protect himself, or a MSV1. But that aside, Armand is great for an aggressive area-denying troop who does well in both active turn and ARO.
- John Hawkwood, Mercenary Officer: The Boss of White Company comes with either a Red Fury or a K1 Marksman Rifle, and a Chain of Command profile. While his stats are pretty alright and his skills complement the loadouts well he's coming in very pricey -- notably, he's one of the few sources of K1 in Yu Jing, making him an extremely competent TAG killer.
Heavy Infantry[edit | edit source]
- Captain Qiang Gao, Invincibles Officer: When he's not off tanking Shasvastii as part of the crew of the Defiance, Qiang Gao provides an un-isolatable Lieutenant L2 with a Dam 16 HMG.
- Dàofei Tactical Section: Infiltrating camouflage HI, who are also quite fast. These are expensive, but come with a bunch of useful profiles and make both sturdy midfield specialists and a great tool in an Alpha Strike. They pair well with Guilang, and are lynchpin units of Yu Jing's camo spam strategies.
- Hac Tao Special Unit: The blackest of Yu Jing's Black Ops, when it's Situation Critical, Hac Tao are sent in to stabilize it. Ostensibly a counterpart to the Swiss Guard, Hac Tao pack a scary amount of 14s across their statline, heavier than heavy armor, and access to NCO. Sitting right at the peak of survivability, offensive power, and order efficiency, the Hac Tao NCO HMG is in the running for one of the best standard HMGs in the entire game. Apropos of that, the Hac Tao missile launcher is one of those units who, if used correctly, wins you the game with a single missile.
- Hsien Warriors: The Emperor's personal guard, pulled from the finest elite troops the Judicial Branch has to offer. They are fast, have excellent CC, 14s across the board, and sport MSV2. In addition, several profiles actually grant you SWC, allowing YJ lists to truly outgun their opponents. The HMG is a classic, but the Multi-Marksman Rifle carries a Tinbot to keep him safe from enemy hackers, while the Multirifle variant grants SWC and is a specialist on top of having Lt+1 Order.
- Hulang Shocktroopers: Hulang are what you get when a monk decides to train a bunch of violent thugs and then sticks them in power armor: tough, hard-to-hit CC specialists with a scary array of short-range options. The Forward Deployment (+8") profiles give them a headstart on slicing through their opponents. Don't forget every profile is also a Specialist Operative and can accomplish mission objectives.
- Haidao Special Support Group: Naval HI, the Haidao pack a wide variety of skills and specialist options to round out your list. All of the specialist profiles are great and the MSV2 Sniper is a very strong ARO piece for a great price. Be aware that Haidao are rather weedy for HI with PH11 and BTS0.
- Imperial Agents, Crane Rank: Cranes are the elites, the echelon below the Hsiens but above the common ISS rank and file. Statistically, they're door kickers; outstanding in close combat, loaded with a pair of nanopulsers and mid-range weapons, with an X-visor to give them an edge beyond standard ranges. They also make strong hackers, as their superior resilience and WIP gives them an edge as specialists or troubleshooters.
- Imperial Agent Adil Mehmut (Crane Rank Armor): Before humiliating himself during the Betrayal manga, Adil was a bird boy himself, although not a particularly outstanding one. He retains the skills of a standard Crane; Sensor, Triangulated Fire, Stealth, Courage, but in exchange for weaker CC and WIP, he gains a Monofilament CCW. He's also notably a Veteran Lt, and his loadout encourages you to take advantage of this by pushing him into close ranges where his Breaker Combi and Mono CCW can do their best work.
- Jujak Regiment, Korean Shock Infantry: These guys are cheap, and come with a bunch of loadouts. While they are mostly good for being wildcards in White Banner you could take one as budget HI option in vanilla from time to time.
- Liu Xing Jump Infantry: Superhero landing! Effectively flying Zuyong, Liu Xing have the always-entertaining Combat Jump (Explosion) skill, allowing them do deal out a DAM 12 template to anything they land near on a pretty reliable 14. Once they land, don't underestimate the damage an effective 2W 6-2 move BS 13 model can do to a backline.
- Mowang Troops: "Walk softly and carry a big gun" -these guys, probably. Despite their bulk and toughness, Mowang Troops are stealthy NCO-driven bruisers. Mimetism (-3), 2 wounds + NWI and ARM 5 make them super tanky. Their weapons are optimized for softer targets, so aim for those.
- Shang Ji Invincibles: Next-gen power armored line infantry, Shang Ji are excellent, albeit expensive units. Besides being faster than average, they pack some extra perks compared to other HI in the same bracket. They come with a variety of gunner and specialist options. Of special mention is the APHMG/Tinbot-6 profile. Affectionately known as Shang Jisus, it proves that a big ball of stats with good equipment is more valuable than stacking vis mods to win fights.
- Sun Tze: N4's changes to Strategos notwithstanding, Sun Tze remains an incredibly difficult to kill character in an army that does VIP protection remarkably well. The positives end there: despite Total Immunity, he's still wearing heavy armor and isn't a Veteran, making him vulnerable to Isolation and completely circumventing his resilience. In addition, Strategos no longer prevents your opponent from retaining additional units during deployment, preventing you from counterdeploying. The bottom line: he doesn't provide enough benefit to justify his cost.
- Sù-Jiàn Immediate Action Unit: Yu Jing's Transformer and the peak of YJ engineering, the dreaded Su Jian is the most conceptually frightening heavy infantry in ISS, and probably all of Yu Jing. You only need to look at the statline to realize the Su Jian is a cut above anything else; the fastest, most resilient unit available, loaded with weapons for all ranges. When piloted properly, a Su Jian will be able to find your opponent's weakest line and punch right through it without mercy. Its main weakness, like all of YJ's HI, is hacking; keep it away from enemy infowar and it will win your games outright. The Spitfire is a classic, but the Heavy Shotgun gives an enormous amount of short-ranged anti-armor power.
- Wú Míng Assault Corps: Relatively cheap and simple HI. In YJ, they're notable for being inexpensive two-wound troopers who can protect your DZ or post up with panzerfausts or rocket launchers.
- Yan Huo Invincibles, Fire Support Heavy Regiment: Yan Huo are here to do one thing, and that one thing is fire superiority. Each Yan Huo is armed with weaponry that's only otherwise seen on TAGs. Take into account that although they are bigger than most horses and weigh more than a LI Core fireteam, these guys don't have any form of Courage, visual modifiers or special equipment. They are tough and they shoot a lot of rounds, but that's it. Thankfully, that's often enough.
- Zuyong Invincibles, Terra-cotta Soldiers: Basic, no-frills HI. Zuyongs are the baseline of what to expect out of Invincible Army HI: they are reliable, resilient and efficient (characteristics that they share with the sectorial as a whole). You can choose between 13 possible loadouts that cover everything from heavy weapons to specialists and fillers. Don't underestimate the B3 Breaker Pistols all Zuyong carry at close range.
- Tai Sheng, Zuyong Invincibles NCO: Propaganda icon and poster child for the Invincible Army, Tai Sheng brings a WIP 14 NCO and is one of the best marksmen in Yu Jing with BS14 and some decent guns. She has a Chain of Command profile, making her one of the unusual troops who can use her own Lt order to power NCO.
- Krit Kokram, Zuyong Invincibles Specialist: Former badboy Krit Kokram is our cheapest NCO and an engineer. Also notable for carrying three pistols. In N3 he was mediocre at best, an embarrassment at worst, but N4 gave him a massive glowup. A giant price cut and an extremely attractive FD8" profile sits him squarely in a comfortable niche as a midfield toolbox, capable of using your Lt's orders to secure objectives and go on the offensive with that artillery-sized shotgun he carries. He can be awkward to use, as no form of marker state or mimetism leaves him vulnerable, but if you can protect him, he can carry you to a win.
Tactical Armor Gear[edit | edit source]
- Blue Wolf Mongol Cavalry: A light TAG; on Svalarheim they're a nomadic unit of guerilla cavalry designed to hunt PanO Jotums, a job they do outstandingly well with their AP Spitfire and extremely high Burst. Ideally they engage at close to mid-range; adequate CC skill to protects themselves from melee threats, their low profile (for a TAG) lets them find cover where a Guijia might not, and Terrain (Total) allows to use difficult terrain zones for a speed boost. While they're significantly more survivable than most heavy infantry, they're still TAGs, and thus have the same weaknesses: keep them away from enemy Hackers, or you might quickly find your Blue Wolf turning on you.
- Guijia Squadrons: For almost 20 years, the Guijia was the only TAG available to Yu Jing. Uninteresting and basic, N4 saw much needed upgrades with improved Martial Arts and Super Jump. This allows it to find unusual angles and move to places a TAG simply isn't intended to be; on top of buildings, in canals, landing onto balconies, etc. This allows it to find commanding positions to fight enemy troopers your opponent believed would be safe, such as prone on a rooftop. Just keep in mind an exposed TAG is catnip for missiles and anti-armor weapons; be sure to keep an order or two in your back pocket to pull its ass out of the line of fire.
Remotes[edit | edit source]
- Yaokong: As per usual with S3 remotes they come in a bunch of variations.
- Chaiyi: Is the trusty flashbot.
- Husong: The TR-HMG bot. Notably, Yu Jing has enhanced availability on TR bots.
- Son-Bae: The guided-missile bot.
- Weibing: The FO sensor bot.
- Yaopu Pangguling: The S4 baggage bots, come in the usual three varieties with EVO HD, TR bot with a combi rifle, or just a plain baggage bot. The FTO light shotgun bot is also reasonably useful as deployment zone defense. Yu Jing has a number of high quality combat remotes that are further enhanced with an EVO Pangguling's Assisted Fire supportware. Faerie Dust and Controlled Jump are also both quality supportware, so it's recommended to pick up an EVO if you can make use of at least two of an EVO's supportware programs.
- Yaoxie Lu Duan: Holomask and Holoprojector make this S4 remote particularly fun! It also got minelayer with deployable repeaters, which is pretty sweet. The MK12 and heavy flamethrower (+1B) are solid weapons, and it's got MSV1 to shoot better against those pesky MIM units.
- Yaoxie Rui Shi: A bit of a glass cannon, Rui Shi is Yu Jing's cheapest Spitfire, but MSV2 and YJ's easy smoke access allows it to punch massively above its weight. With a little bit of engineer support, it can remain a persistent threat for the entire game.
- Yaofang Long Ya: Forward Deployment, Camo and Panzerfaust plus Flammenspeer which both (+1B). AP mines and a minelayer option, and the choice between a SMG or a heavy shotgun. Long Ya are designed to sandbag your opponent, soaking up orders and occasionally coming up huge with their disposable guns. Making good use of Yu Jing's talented engineers lets you bring this normally expendable trooper back onto the field to continue making your opponent's life difficult.
Warband[edit | edit source]
- Shaolin Warrior Monks: The only Yu Jing warbands, being as warband as it gets: very good in CC, smoke throwing, irregular and impetuous. Also they're dirt-cheap.
- Liang Kai, Wandering Shaolin Monk: He pays for being regular and a lot of tools making him war more resilient, and deadly! For 21 points he isn't even close to being expensive given all the great warband tools he gets.
Skirmishers[edit | edit source]
- Guiláng Skirmishers: Camo Infiltrators with MSV1- these guys come with a bunch of useful loadouts. Worth mentioning is the minelayer with deployable repeaters allows you to start the game with a reliable "turn zero" repeater network.
- Kunai Solutions Ninjas: These guys come at the price of regular ninjas, but with fewer loadouts, no infiltration (which feels pretty bad), and no specialist option. Not the most attractive unit of this kind, but a decent midrange gun combined with Climbing+ allows it to get unusual angles on enemy troops, or simply walk into your opponent's deployment zone and start killing people.
- Kanrèn Counter-insurgency Group: Counterparts to the Guilang, they carry holomask and holoprojectors. Good at CC, with Mono CCWs and template weapons across all profiles to make them reliable problem solvers and low cost for trading. Holoechoes allow them to detonate deployables to clear the way to an objective. Remember that the KHD Kanren can benefit from Surprise Attack if she's using Cybermask, and the Shock Mine Kanren costs 0 SWC, allowing you to deploy mine defenses if your strategy involves using specialist Guilang instead of minelayers.
- Ninjas: Hidden deployment infiltrators with MIM (-6). They've got hackers with either HD or KHD, or a FO option as specialists. The tactical bow allows precise assassinations within close range without drawing AROs- you shouldn't rely on it though since their BS isn't great.
Building Your Army[edit | edit source]
- Budgeting: Despite having more heavy infantry than any other faction, Yu Jing still needs to be considerate on how many points it's spending on its beefy boys. Don't go overboard; pick two or three HI to take point in your army, then pick up support troops and cheerleaders to power your HI. Try to fill out your list to the full 15 troops -- it's quite easy, and Yu Jing has a variety of units who can help you do that, such as Long Ya and Kuang Shi.
- Redundancy: As an army that leans on its hackables, you need to be cognizant of your opponent's hackers, and have engineers on standby to repair them when they inevitably take a Carbonite to the actuators. The same goes for doctors and paramedics; with so many points tied up in our elite troops, reviving them can be a massive swing in your favour.
- Counter-EWAR: Yu Jing's hackers aren't exceptionally powerful, but many of them have ways to hide themselves, either with holomask or hidden deployment, and you can establish a powerful repeater network to keep your side of the table safe. Use your unhackable troopers to knock over enemy Repeaters, or Ninjas and Tiger Soldiers to get behind enemy lines and to pick off troops preventing you from advancing with your HI.
Tactics[edit | edit source]
- Lt+1 Order, NCO, Tactical Awareness: Extremely efficient order use is Yu Jing's hallmark; you can snap the 15 trooper limit over your knee by bringing troops who bring multiple orders to the table and overwhelming your opponent.
- Template Troopers: Yu Jing's Monks and Kuang Shi are very efficient for their price; if you're up against a particularly troublesome trooper, say a Mimetism troop in suppression on an objective, Kuang Shi and Monks are both capable of easily dislodging that trooper with template weapons or close combat.
- Misdirection: Yu Jing's camo game is on par with Ariadna; we have exceptional specialists, combat troops, and ARO presence with Camouflage. It's very easy to make a list that's heavy on the camouflage and holomask, especially if you're worried about deployment. If you're a canny player, you can easily play with your opponent's expectations using holomask and catch them off guard.
