Menzoberranzan

Menzoberranzan is the 2nd most famous city of drow in the Dungeons & Dragons multiverse - well, technically, it's the most famous, because Menzoberranzan was invented by R.A. Salvatore for his Drizzt novels, which normies are aware of, and Erelhei-Cinlu is a Greyhawk original that was then recreated in the Nentir Vale, so only actual gamers know about it, but it still was created second.
Menzoberranzan sketches what a drow city is like when the cult of Lolth runs the show. Erelhei-Cinlu and the Vault didn't quite count since, in the Drow Trilogy, we only saw it when Lolth's hold was contested (with the "Elder Elemental God"). And that city was a demon-infested slum where no decisions were made or, for that matter, enforced.
One interesting fact about Menzoberranzan: there was originally a House devoted to psionics who almost conquered the city and drove out the Lolthite priests during the Time of Troubles.
Menzoberranzan (as a Realms site) got its own dedicated box set in 2e. Towards the end of the Dungeons & Dragons 4th Edition era, it got a splatbook as well - again, under Toril. This went from its founding through to the then-present of 100 years post-Spellplague.
