Not all batfolk are evil.

The Nycters are a race of cave-dwelling beastfolk who resemble halfling-sized humanoid bats, introduced in the Monster Manual 3 for Dungeons & Dragons 3.5. Ironically, another batfolk race had been introduced in the previous MM2, the Desmodu. According to D&D lore, the two races are related, but nycters regarded the far larger batfolk in much the same way as humans regard ogres; big, dangerous, barbaric savages. Desmodus in return look down on the nycters as lesser beings, viewing them as being weak, unambitious and silly by comparison.

They are a strongly communal species, whose culture and society revolves around the community; this sense of duty to the group and the need to contribute is very strong, and selfish nycters are a rare thing. Peaceful by nature, they prefer to avoid conflict than start fights, and will offer parlay before they fight. If they must do battle, they will fight fiercely to defend themselves, their people and their territories.
