The Facts[edit | edit source]

In actual 40k Canon, the Order of the Ermine Mantle is a Minor Order Militant of the Sisters of Battle who took part in the Imperial defense against the 13th Black Crusade. They had a member who was going to become Abbess and then disappeared. That's really it. Essentially, they are among the most literally of literally who orders.

In an update, said Abbess was rescued by Celestine during the Indomitus Crusade and finally took up her post.

The Facts According to /tg/[edit | edit source]

The Ermine Mantle received sudden recognition from /tg/ due to its appearance in the Battle for Cold Shoulder Thread, particularly relating to its Canoness Konstanzia, who appeared in many lulzy posts accompanied by edited pictures from wikihow. The order was depicted as a small but effective one - much more reasonable than many other Sisters of Battle regiments, but also being filled with vain, catty and generally bitchy members, who constantly complain about each other's perceived incompetence and short comings.

General Information[edit | edit source]

The Order of the Ermine Mantle has their origin as the protectors of important members of the Ordo Famulus. While they would grow into a full military force, they still tend to excel at operations that require precise application of force and often tact. Quick strikes, bodyguard missions and urban operations they all excel at. Compared to other Ordos, they tend to be much more reasonable and worldly, which helps them work better with local nobility and population. Their colors are grey and silver, and ermine frills, scarves and capes are very common. According to Canoness Konstanzia their reasonableness puts them at odds with the Mechanicus as apparently putting some ballistic glass in front of the hapless cunts driving their Penitent Engines is "potential tech heresy" for which they "hate her guts".

The Shrine World of the Order is known as Tomis. It is, apart from being a headquarters of the Ecclesiarchy in its sector, a breadbasket world noted for its extensive forests and farmlands, making it a popular place for nobility to set up operations - which suits the Order well. Contrary to this, the capital, Kerys, is a massive metropolis. It is located on one of the more colder, barren areas of the planet so its pollution does not unduly effect the areas of the nobility. The large population of animals, particularly imported mammalians, means that there is a brisk trade in hunting tourism and the fur trade. A healthy agricultural sector also makes it a prime producer of expensive foodstuffs and particularly alcoholic beverages. Much of the planets surface is in fact organized as nature preserves. Some of these are used to house species from planets that have died out elsewhere in the Imperium due to their planets suffering Exterminatus. Some are used as the hunting preserves of the nobility. The hunting preserves with the most dangerous game are reserved for usage by the Order of the Ermine mantle for training, after many sisters were lost in a particularly grueling campaign against the Tyranids, and it was determined that the Order needed to heavily drill against large monstrous targets.

The Order has working relationships with the Order of the Black Sepulcher and the Order of the Golden Dawn, two other Orders Militant. They also have a good relationship with the Red Templars Space Marines.

Notable Members[edit | edit source]

Canoness Konstanzia - Affectionately named Canoness Crazy Eyes by her subordinates. The most catty, most fabulous, most efficient. Enjoys arts and crafts in her spare time, and makes her own purity seals, which she gives out as rewards, always having many on hand. Has red hair and cybernetic eyes.

Brigitte, Living Saint - One of the only genuinely nice member of the order, lovingly referred to as "basic bitch Brigitte" by her fellow sisters. Became a living saint after being sent on a suicide mission by Canoness Konstanzia for criticizing her scarf, much to the annoyance and disbelief of the rest of the order.

Sister Diana - A sister from the order, who nearly missed the battle due to her servoclock being turned off. She apparently lacks the backhanded subtlety of almighty bitchiness the other sisters deploy to bash each other in a respectful manner, making a habit of slapping around sister Olga and using the "oldschool interrogation" technique of "Burn first ask questions later". In Canoness Konstanzia's own words: "That one's Repentia material".

Sister Charlotte - A Dominion of the Order. Incredibly rash and aggressive in close combat, but proficient with her melta. Assumes that a dozer blade on her Immolator means that its to be used as a ramming weapon. Hates Xenos and Xeno Vehicles in particular. In a constant battle of wits and verbal jabs with Terese. Known as something of a whore, but will always put the unit first. Also noted for her significant vanity, even among the order, preferring flowing ermine capes when possible. Something of a social climber and is eager for recognition and rewards. Has shorter, messy straw blonde hair.

Sister Hanna - The Gunner on the Repressor and co-pilot to Lydia. Apparently really gets into shooting heretics with bolters but is pretty slothful and lazy about anything else, and will do her best to get out of doing work or contributing. Mostly serves as Lydia's sidekick and drinking buddy. Is brown skinned.

Sister Judith - A Repressor Driver, but a notably terrible one. Most likely eaten by a Tyranid biotitan. (You will start to notice a theme here.)

Sister Katalin - A high Ranked Sister

Sister Lydia - The driver of Canoness Konstanzia's personal Repressor, and self proclaimed "only half technically competent one among this bunch of flighty bitches". She is one of the most level headed members of the order, with remarkable aplomb under fire, at least until she gets drunk. In reality she tends to panic a lot on the inside, but is good at covering it up, and at driving. Tends to be possessive and protective of most gear in the unit, and is therefore highly suspicious of Blood Ravens. Despite being rarely seen due to preferring to have a helmet on, has very luxurious long pale blonde hair. She has found a compartment in the Repressor to hoard shampoo and conditioner. Is also rather petite, and a little sensitive about it.

Sister Olga - A Retributor, and designated punching bag of the order. Despite her notably large ass she is quite strong and a good fighter, if not particularly smart. Promoted to Celestian Superior for "exceptional combat performance" at the Battle for Cold Shoulder, and assigned to position of Liaison to the Adeptus Astartes. Has a thing for space marines, donuts and grox patties.

Sister Radmilla - A high Ranking Sister

Sister Sarah - A forgettable sister, probably eaten by a large xeno bioform.

Sister Terese - Sister Terese is a Seraphim of the Order. While her attitude prevents her from rising in the ranks, she is generally seen as a leader figure due to her skill and caution. Incredibly snarky and bitchy, particularly towards Sister Charlotte. Has a cybernetic left hand and a predilection for younger women. Is seen as somewhat lazy and unreliable, but is very skilled at her combat role. Has a bit of a lho habit she sometimes falls back on in times of stress. Also has a recaf habit she falls back on whenever she feels like it. Is a decent cook and can make great cups of recaf given the right materials. Is a brunette.

Sister Tifania - Was eaten by a Haruspex long ago, immortalized in the name of a Melta Pistol.

Sister Maria - Made fun of the canoness's cybernetic eye and was left behind to be eaten by a Mawloc.
