Basically Delta force in SPACE! One of the few imperial guard regiments that actually uses dynamic tactics, recruit highly motivated individuals (they disagree with commissars), and prefer fast strikes to disable forces much larger than their own. Lead by Major Mortensen, who literally feels no pain due to a injury that resulted from the destruction of his home planet (talk about a tough selection process), think Captain Price… IN SPACE!!, After that you have the usual collection of brains, sniper, tough guy, heavy weapons, and female.
In their most recent example of not conforming to unrealistic (bullshit) doctrines they got in a battle with the Sisters of battle, they got all uppity about letting in a massive Ork invasion with the hope of forcing the whole sector into large scale militarization with the further hope that future crusades could be fought with the forces that will be born into the hellish spartan-army societies.
The most recent novel is -TOTALLY NOT A COMPLETE FUCKING RIP OFF OF BLACK HAWK DOWN- a completely original -OH FOR FUCKS SAKE!! IT COPIES SOME SCENES WORD FOR MOTHERFUCKING WORD!!!!!!- ok it may have taken some liberties from a certain movie, but the battle sets up for the rest of the story which can be considered original work.-OK THATS FAIR!!!-
