Chaos Warriors are the mainstay unit if the Chaos forces in Warhammer Fantasy, to the extent that the Chaos-worshipping Mortal subfaction was ultimately branded Warriors of Chaos in their honor. In the meta, Chaos Warriors represent the "pricey elite" end of troops; although a Core choice, their relatively high stats and solid armor (averaging a 4+ save, depending on edition) come with a high price tag, so units of Chaos Warriors will almost always be relatively small. Mounted Chaos Warriors are known as "Chaos Knights", not to be confused with their mecha-piloting namesakes from the 40K universe.

In-universe, a Chaos Warrior is a worshipper of Chaos who has been awarded a suit of Chaos Armor, an enchanted and often impossibly ornate suit of full-body plate mail that mystically fuses to the wearer's body, imbuing them with supernatural strength, durability, resilience, and reaction speed, whilst also moving with impossible fluidity to allow the wearer to cast spells and even shifting shapes to accommodate the weirdest mutations. Becoming a Chaos Warrior is often a major step on the road to becoming a Chaos Champion, although some do skip it.

Their equivalents in the 40k universe are the Chaos Space Marines.
