A prototype tank which takes the concept of "Land Battleship" way too literally, the TOG2 is another tank that never saw service, but are pretty cool regardless. This longboi is pretty much a Grot Megatank, complete with thin, ramshackle armor, it would've had sponsons, too, but then they realized that would be dumb. Who's dumb enough to do that?

I dare say, this page is delightfully British. Spot of tea?

A prototype tank which takes the concept of "Land Battleship" way too literally, the TOG2 is another tank that never saw service, but are pretty cool regardless. This longboi is pretty much a Grot Megatank, complete with thin, ramshackle armor, it would've had sponsons, too, but then they realized that would be dumb. Who's dumb enough to do that?

Proof that the British just suck at tank design

You'd think that a tank this large would have better armor, but no, it has even less armor than a Sherman. At least it has the 17-pdr, which lets it trade shots with other, better heavies.

The TOG2 is a prototype Heavy tank designed by The Old Gang of tank designers that designed the original British Mark tanks. An even earlier concept than the [[Churchill tank], it was also designed on the assumption that World War II would devolve into a clusterfuck of trench campers. The TOG2 is basically the "Land Battleship" concept applied with more "modern" technology, applying lessons like torsion-bar suspensions (which gave it a much better ride and control), lower-run tracks versus an over-under design, twin-engines (one for each track), and of course, a turret. In spite of that, the design still showed its age and "The Old Gang's" obsolete way of thinking: it was slow (24 km was its theoretical top-speed), had thin armor, and its length was more of a detriment than an advantage, even if they did manage to include the planned sponsons. By the time the first prototype was built, it was already obsolete, replaced by the Churchill, a slightly more sane take on the concept.
