The Daimler Armoured Car troop is a unit available in Flames of War. It contains Daimler Armoured Cars, reliable recon vehicles that served in WWII and even into the 60s.

IRL[edit]

The Daimler originated for a need for heavier firepower to be present in motorized recon troops. They were not fast, but they could get where they needed to go with four wheel drives and bring some serious firepower when they did, being armed with a the QF 2 pounder AT gun. Daimlers were also equipped with a coaxial BESA and a Bren gun to peck at aircraft and the odd German infantry.

Daimlers and Tetrarchs shared the same turret design, and as such were both compatible with a piece of technology called the Littlejohn Adaptor. The short version is that it shaves and compressed a fired shell into a greater concentrated mass that should provide better armor penetration. The catch is that you had to have the device attached and fire a special shell through it. Most Daimler crews preferred to leave it off rather than have it equipped at all times.

Daimlers saw service in Africa, Italy, and Mainland Europe. Some were used by the Indian Army before they were transferred back to England. They were retained in Northern Irish Service until the 60s when they were finally determined to be obsolete
