Gorgon Terminator
Gorgon Terminators were a elite and specialised squad of Terminators during the Great Crusade and Horus Heresy.
Overview[edit]
Whilst not as esteemed as the Morlocks, the Gorgon Terminators were still an elite branch of Iron Hand veterans that had the added bonus in not failing spectacularly in protecting their Primarch.
Gorgon Terminators were noted for the fact that they wore extremely experimental and rare Gorgon Pattern Terminator Armour that remained exclusive to the Iron Hands ten millennia later. Although it is unknown if these Terminators still exist in some form by the turn of the 41st Millennium. Gorgon Terminators acted as shock troops and were pretty adaptable. This was shown in their weaponry, which includes Thunder Hammers, Powerfists, Power Axes and Combi-Bolters for close-assaults; Plasma Blasters and Combi-Volkites for ranged-assaults; and Grav-Guns with Grav-Amps for anti-vehicular purposes.
Crunch[edit]
On the Horus Heresy tabletop, they are Terminators in Gorgon armour with Power Axes and Combi-Bolters; their Sergeant, the Gorgon Hammerbearer, is appropriately equipped with a Thunder Hammer instead of a Power Axe. They are big walking tanks with Feel No Pain (5+) and Stubborn. One every three models can now pick up heavy weapons, with one of the options being a Graviton Gun. Not quite as shooty as Nullificators or the ranged Cataphractii other Legions have, but you're pretty hard to kill, so this is a good ranged option. Three Plasma Blasters and a bunch of Combi-Volkites can do some damage to enemy infantry, while replacing the 3 Graviton Guns with Graviton Shredders can cause a lot of Haywire hits and help counter Dreadnoughts, which are one of the premier anti-TEQ units in the game with their S9 ID AP2 Brutal (3) Power Fists at initiative.
