Long Fang
Long Fangs, AKA Space Wolves Veterans exclusive to destroying shit up, are the wolfiest wolfs of heavy weaponry. They differ from conventional Devastator Squads by the fact that their experiences are long and filled with bloody deeds. And they literally have fangs in their mouth. Their temperament is unyielding as their aim is unshakable. They are entrusted with supporting their brethren in battle by utilising the heaviest weaponry found within the armouries of the Fang.
Overview[edit]
As one can imagine, living in a Death World like Fenris isn't good for your health. Even among transhuman superfurries like a Space Wolf can count his lifespan in decades, not centuries. So it is within reason that once a Space Wolf reaches a certain venerable age, it marks an era in which the Chapter could accept that their life sagas are near a close. Given how many furries die over the millennium, Long Fangs are a minority in the Chapter. With such seniority builds centuries of experience, and as such, these old geezers are disciplined and steady in the heat of battle, and are entrusted with the use of the Great Company’s heavy weapons. These Veteran warriors Long Fangs as previously mentioned are the Space Wolves' equivalent of a Codex Astartes-compliant Chapter's Devastator Marines. Having fought and survived so many battles, the Long Fangs have seen enough shit over their careers to remain barely unsettled even by the most serious of set-backs.
The old coots have survived galaxy for so goddamn long that they actually promoted themselves from mere furry cosplayers to genuine bonafide furries. Well...sort of. They haven't gone to the deep end like the Wulfen, but it does mean that their long lives allows the genetic inheritance of the Canis Helix sequence within the gene-seed of their Primarch to manifest fully, as they are literally endowed with long fangs (Hence their name). As a Space Wolf continues to age, their canines lengthen into wolf-like fangs and their hair and beard grows thick and grey. These guys are still glory hogs hounds mind you, but their age has effectively tempered their recklessness into stone-cold pragmatism.
Over time, most Blood Claws and Grey Hunters die in battle, and only a small minority survive to reach a venerable age, but those that do are amongst the most notorious warriors in the galaxy. Long Fangs as such, are less likely to be provoked unlike the young'ins and remain implacably composed in the heat of battle. Meanwhile, their former yiff-mates have been whittled down so much over the centuries that only a handful of them remains. This means that socially, each Long Fang knows one another on a personal basis, to the point on placing bets on the amount of targets they score like a damn vidya game. In battle, the oldest Long Fang of the Pack is entrusted with selecting enemy targets and directs his brethren's fire where it will be most effective. Long Fangs being veterans of heavy weapons are allowed to carry almost all types of heavy weaponry, from Lascannons to Heavy Flamers alongside Plasma Cannons, Missile Launchers and Heavy Bolters. They wear Artificer Armour by this point in time due to sheer age and centuries of armour modifications.
