US 75mm Artillery
The 75mm Pack Howitzer M1, later redesignated M116, was an airborne use field artillery gun used by United States Airborne forces in WW2 and is featured as a unit in Flames of War. Designed to be extremely portable, the M1 could be dissembled into 9 separate parachute packages weighing between 73 to 107 kilograms (160 and 283lbs respectively). This allowed the M1 to go literally ANYWHERE its operators could via glider or plane.

IRL[edit]
The 75mm pack howitzer was designed shortly after WW1 based on lessons in Europe. It was intended to be breakable into pieces light enough to be carried by mules in rugged terrain. When the US Army later began contemplating airborne infantry assaults, the 75mm was a natural choice as an airmobile field gun since it was lightweight and portable. However, as the war progressed there was a preference for heavier calibers, so the chassis was adapted to carry a cut down M2 105mm gun as the M3 pack howitzer.
The 75mm was removed from service after the war ended, but its M3 big brother would serve in Korea until being replaced in turn by full sized 105mm guns carried by heavy helicopters.
However, the vintage 75mm M116 remains a ceremonial saluting gun both in both the US Army and Marines.
