The Puritans were a Codex-compliant Second Founding Chapter, tracing their heritage back to the Void Angels of Gaspard Lumey. Inspired by their first Chapter Master Richard Dogbeh, The Puritans served as the guardians of the Kiazuno System until the chapter met its end during the Second Vetrovnak Incursion.
Chapter History
From the reforms of the Institutorum Astartes, the Void Angels legion was completely broken up into Space Marine Chapters by their Primarch, Gaspard Lumey. Great leaders from the Void Angels were selected to command these burgeoning new chapters, and Richard Dogbeh, Commander of the Fifth Army was appointed as the first Chapter Master of The Puritans.
The Puritans would be granted dominion over the Kiazuno System at the edge of the Ultima Segmentum, constructing their fortress-monastery Eternal Bulwark on the lone moon of the Hive World Ryounis. Ryounis itself would also host the Kiazuno Orbital, a vast orbital shipyard that supplied and fitted the warships of The Puritans.
Notable Campaigns
Battle for Kiazuno
The Puritans fight to the last man when Vetrovnak forces begin harvesting operations on Ryounis. Despite the early loss of the Heresy-era battle barge Lance of Vengeance, the entire chapter takes the battle to the invading ships and perish through a combination of void warfare and failed breaching operations.
Chapter Combat Doctrine
Richard Dogbeh believed that the purpose of the Adeptus Astartes above all is to protect the Imperium and all its servants. As such, The Puritans throw themselves forward as the tip of the spear, making near suicidal assaults that can blunt and neutralise the attacks of even the most overwhelming adversaries.
Chapter Master Richard Dogbeh shared his knowledge and experience of tactical breaches with his chapter and as such The Puritans fields above average numbers of Breacher Marines. Indeed, The Puritans are famed for their breach tactics, both on the ground and in the void.
Of the utmost elite status in The Puritans stand the Garde Perdus, the personal guard of the Chapter Master. Bearing artificer armour and exotic weaponry of designs long lost to time, this elite cadre consists of handpicked warriors that have charged first into the jaws of death and continued to fight on. The Chapter Master himself wields the mighty force stave Cinquieme, once gifted to Gaspard Lumey by Roman Albrecht.
Chapter Beliefs
The Puritans are intensely committed to being guardians of all humans under the Imperium. As such, they have no tolerance for mutants, heretics and xenos. The Chapter harkens back to Gaspard Lumey’s hardline stance against psykers, refusing to field any librarians in combat. Instead, the task of maintaining the chapter’s history has been transferred to the Reclusiam.
