The Brazen Drakes are a space marine Chapter based on the world of Khassedur, and are the subject of several short stories in the Psychic Awakening.
The opening of the Great Rift and the Psychic Awakening itself hit the Brazen Drakes hard, causing many in the chapter to suddenly start developing uncontrollable psychic powers. Chapter Master Argento Corian and his inner circle of captains decided to hide the problem by killing any marines that were revealed to be thus "tainted."
But eventually, Corian got sick and tired of killing his own battle brothers. Knowing full well what would happen to the chapter if their eruption of psychic powers was discovered, and feeling that they would all fall victim to the Awakening eventually, Corian decided that they might as well take the heresy ball and run with it on their own terms. From that point forward the Brazen Drakes would fight for themselves and themselves alone.
During the Indomitus Crusade, a Torchbearer fleet headed by the Lux-Imperatus arrived at the Brazen Drakes homeworld of Khassedur bringing two full companies of Primaris Marine Greyshield reinforcements, only to find Khassedur ravaged by war and the chapter having gone full chaos. The Custodes immediately condemned the Primaris Brazen Drakes as tainted as well, and when the Primaris tried to speak in their own defense, the Custodes shot one of them. The Primaris fought back and tried to seize the fleet, and before long the whole fleet was being torn apart.
While the ultimate fate of the Primaris Brazen Drakes remains unclear, apparently the chapter has since then grown into a serious threat, prompting the deployment of an entire Assassinorum Execution Force just to go after Argento Corian on Dessah.
