Foundation date
| When was this house founded? (d100) | |
|---|---|
| 1 | Ancient Origins - A most ancient and venerable house, this noble family can trace it's origins to pre-Imperium nobility from the Dark Age of Technology or even before, going far back to the Age of Terra. Whether made up or not, the fact that their house predates the Imperium means that this family is proud of it's origins, and may hold considerable power within the Imperium. Don't mention to them that most the Imperium is probably descended from their legendary progenitor though. |
| 2-4 | Age of Strife - Similar to the above but unlike it, this house was founded during the Age of Strife, and predates the Imperium by many millennia. Whether they fought against the Imperium and brokered an agreement or worked with them the moment they were founded, this house has a most illustrious history, and may be juggernauts in the Imperial war machine or bureaucracy. |
| 5-7 | Unification Wars - This House was a peer of the Imperium upon it's foundation. Whether it's founder was a techno-barbarian warlord or a loyal servant of the emperor from the start, the fact is, this house eventually became one of the founding pillars in the creation of the Imperium of Man. |
| 8-10 | Great Crusade/Horus Heresy - Found upon a newly conquered world or from the many Imperial Army regiments that fought for or against the Emperor, this noble house grew up within the shadow of the Imperium. Having possibly fought within the countless battles of the Crusades and/or the Heresy, this family dates it's foundations to the days when the Emperor's light shined across the sky - or it's darkest moments when traitor legions tore the Imperium asunder. |
| 11-20 | Time of Rebirth - This house's progenitor was born during the time of rebirth, perhaps during the Scouring or after The War of The Beast. |
| 21-30 | The Forging - This house's progenitor was active during The Forging, perhaps after the terror of The Beheading or during one of the crusades taken during this period. |
| 31-50 | Nova Terra Interregnum - This house's progenitor lived during the Nova Terra Interregnum, and may either have supported the Imperium, or supported Nova Terra and walked back to the Imperium's fold. |
| 51-70 | Age of Apostacy/Redemption - Maybe it was founded with the help of Goge Vandire himself, maybe they helped overthrow him - or maybe both, the progenitor of this house was founded upon the Age of Apostacy or The Age of Redemption. |
| 71-80 | Age of Waning/Time of Ending - A rather recent noble house that has found itself rising through the ranks of the Imperium of Man, this is one of the newer houses within the Imperium. It may only consist of a nuclear family or already be a few centuries old, but whether this family will retain it's grasp on power is yet to be seen. |
| 81-100 | Age of the Dark Imperium - This is a brand new house, barely consisting of more than a few members. Their members are still fresh and idealistic, or perhaps the most corrupt and rotten. May not be taken with decadent. |
House Stereotypes
House Temperament
| What is this house like? (d100) | |
|---|---|
| 1-2 | Noble - A house of idealistic individuals, this noble house is genuinely noble and believe that they are working for the greater good. Whether they are mislead or genuinely kind, these people are exemplars of nobility, an island of integrity in a sea of corruption. Think House Atreides and you're on the right track. |
| 3-5 | Decadent - A house full of lazy and cruel individuals who see everyone else as beneath them. Think of pretty much every depiction of aristocracy in current 40k works (or heck, popular perception) and you'd get the general idea. Probably heretics too. |
| 6 | Cutthroat - A house of sociopathic cutthroats, this house seeks to gain - or retain power at all costs. |
| 31-50 | Insulated - This house is so disconnected from reality, they don't even register the troubles of the rest of the Imperium as anything more than a distant concern. |
| 51-70 | Ambitious - This house is full of drive, and wants MORE power, whether that be for malicious reasons, genuinely altruistic reasons, amoral powerhungryness, or a cocktail of any of them. |
| 71-80 | Unassuming - Not every Noble House has to be full of great or terrible individuals. This house is full of normal, if not slightly spoilt people. |
| 81-100 | Complex - Roll for two Temperaments. Noble cannot be taken with decadent or cutthroat, and insulated/unassuming cannot be taken with cutthroat or ambitious. Otherwise, go wild! Reroll on any incompatible temperaments or duplicates. |
Inheritance
Power Base
| How Does this House Retain Power? (d100) | |
|---|---|
| 01-20 | Planetary Fiefdom - Your noble house owns a planet, and collect taxes from the citizenry. |
| 21-40 | Resource Extraction - Your noble house extracts resources, whether that be from a planet they own or from mining asteroids and the like. |
| 41-60 | Market and Commerce - Your noble house are merchants, working in commercial or industrial businesses. |
| 61-80 | Ecclesiarchy Priesthood - This house is a Ministorum ally, and has a family legacy of rites, rituals, and practices. In turn, they are held up by the Ministorum. |
| 81-100 | Several Specialties - Roll twice more on the table! |
House Strength
| How much fame and power does this house have (d100) | |
|---|---|
| 01-20 | Micro - This is a tiny house, at least owning a city sized fiefdom. Anything below that is barely worth mention. |
| 21-40 | Continental - This house has at least a continent's worth of resources, or a hive city's worth. |
| 41-60 | Minor - This house has the resources to be top dog in their own planet, a barely known backwater. Alternatively, they are a continental sized house on an incredibly famous planet. |
| 41-60 | Notable - This house has the resources to be top dog in their own planet, a planet widely known throughout the Imperium. They can also be powerful and famous in an obscure subsector. This is the minimum tier to be noticed by the galaxy at large, thought that is debatable in on it's own. |
| 61-80 | Major - This house is renown house, having multiple subsectors knowing their name. They are known throughout the sector as a great house of great power. |
| 61-80 | Great - This house is known and hold some influence throughout the segmentum. |
| 61-80 | Illustrious - This house is known and hold considerable influence throughout the segmentum. |
| 61-80 | Titanic - This house is known and hold influence throughout the Imperium. |
| 61-80 | Venerable - This house is directly connected to the High Lords of Terra and can thus wield considerable influence in the Imperium. |
| 81-100 | Fallen House - This family has fallen from grace and now sits at a lower tier than they once did. Roll to see what they were before or at their peak, and where they are now. Alternatively, you can make them impoverished nobles, barely doing any better than the common folk. This means that a lot of what you rolled for is in the past tense. |
Resources
| Ties With (d10 roll 3 times) | |
|---|---|
| 1 | Space Marine Chapter - This noble house has connections with a chapter of the Adeptus Astartes. They may send some of their sons over as applicants or as chapter serfs, or just have worked with them many times in the past, but regardless, they are a house well acquainted with this chapter. |
| 2 | Administratum - This house may be an Administratum dynasty or have many members working in high positions in the Administratum. Either way, this house has the immense resources of the Administratum to work with. |
| 3 | Imperial Military - This house may have a long and illustrious history of service within the Imperial Guard or Navy, or simply have the right friends. Either way, this house has connections to the Astra Militarum. |
| 4 | Ecclesiarchy - This house is on good terms with the Imperial Church. This is obviously a good thing. |
| 5 | Criminal Organisation - Anything from a xeno-trading cartel to narcotics barons, this noble house retains shady connections for profiteering uses - or for doing their dirty work. Cannot be taken with a noble temperment. |
| 6 | Inquisitor - Whether the inquisitor in question is a member himself or is merely close friends, this house has connections to an Inquisitor, giving them a powerful advantage over others. |
| 7 | Imperial Government - The House has friends in high places within a particular region's government, be it a Sub-Sector, Sector or even a Segmentum. Alternatively, they are the government. |
| 8 | Their Subjects - This house is actually respected by their subjects, who trust them and work with them. Cannot be taken with decadent. |
| 9 | Heretical cult - This family is associated with a heretical cult, whether knowingly or not. Alternatively, this can be a genestealer cult, and are unaware that this is a ticking time bomb that will ultimately ruin their family either way. Can automatically be taken with traitor. |
| 10 | Xenos - Maybe they are close friends with an Eldar craftworld, an Exodite World, a Tau world, or some other xenos race. Depending on if they are sanctioned xenos or not, this may be a secret. Can automatically be taken with traitor. |
Armed Forces
| House Army Type (d100) | |
|---|---|
| 1-30 | Mercenaries - The House primarily uses mercenaries to guard themselves. Better pay them well! |
| 31-60 | House Troops - A body of professional soldiers, loyal to the House. How well armed they are depends on the status of the house. |
| 60-90 | Imperial Guard - This family is protected by the Imperial Guard. |
| 91 | Exotic - Anything that is not covered here. Alien mercenaries (Kroot or Orks?), renegades, mutants, abhumans, Adeptus Astartes, alien sponsors/allies (Tau or Eldar?), Chaos forces (Traitor Legions, most suited to the Alpha Legion, or deceived fools) |
| 92-100 | Mixed Forces - roll twice on the table! |
Area(s) Of Interest

| 10-14 | Sports - Does your house enjoy the sports? Maybe it's something relatively common, like scrumball pitch. It could be more "exotic" and epxensive things, like horseback riding. Some such sports could even be helpful in warfare, especially if the sport is something like lasgun shooting, vehicle driving, or even piloting aircraft. |
| 15-19 | Philosophy - Maybe your house enjoys philosophy, and thinking about the state of the world. Unlike your average pleb, the nobles have a lot more time to think about the world around them. This can lead to amazing new schools of thoughts to better serve the Imperium...or it can lead to heresy. |
| 20-24 | History - Is your family extra interested in the history? Fret not, you can always hit the libraries to read the (very heavily censored) history books! |
| 25-29 | Sciences - Maybe your house enjoys studying the structure and nature of the universe. Such a house can produce a great many scientists, and their topics could help expand the scope of human knowledge. |
| 30-34 | Mechanics - Is your house interested in how machines tick? They may have favorable relations with the Mechanicum, or be hated as they cut the edge of tech-heresy. |
| 35-39 | Gardening - From imitating commoner agriculture to growing exotic flowers, maybe your noble house is famed for their green thumb. Pity none of it will ever serve a practical purpose. |
| 41-44 | Exploring - This family enjoys exploring the universe! May automatically be taken with Rogue Trader Dynasty. |
| 45-49 | Politics - |

| 75-79 | The Imperial Cult - |
| 80-84 | Investing - |
| 85-89 | Decadence - Is your house more of a party animal zoo? Or maybe they go even further in terms of their decadence and actively work on being the most vile human beings imaginable in their attempts at ultimate pleasure. Either way, your house enjoys the high life and/or whatever debauchery they can engage in. |
| 90-95 | Magics - If your house has psykers, they could enjoy performing magics and studying the nature of the warp. Depending on if they are trained by the Astra Telepathica, this could be breaking the law. If your family is extra heretical, maybe they enjoy sorcery and other forms of heresy. Better not let that inquisitor find out or you're toast though! |
| 96-100 | Quite the People! - Roll thrice more on the table! |
