The Sons of Medusa are a Successor Chapter of the Iron Hands.
The 40K universe occurs in the 41st millennium. The Horus Heresy occurred approximately in the 30th millennium. So what happened in the meantime? A lot actually.
In approximately 35K, the imperial bureaucracy and the state religion were fighting for power over the empire. Sick of this, a large section of the galactic west declared their independence from the empire and set up a second empire, known as the Nova Terra Interregnum.
Into the confusion, some tech priests on the planet of Moirae started to hear messages in the micro-fluctuations of the Astronomican. Word of the divinely inspired messages spread like wild fire through the Cult Mechanicus' sub-sects, and also spread to the Iron Hands that were closely allied with the Mechanicum. However, when the messages were supposedly translated to make references to future overthrow of Mars and the fusion of the Adeptus Mechanicus and the Ecclesiarchy Mars decided that they had enough and bombed the planet of Moirae out of existence.
The Sons of Medusa are the remnants of the faction of the Iron Hands that subscribed to the so called Moirae heresy. They are very much like their parent chapter in organization and philosophy. They too abhor mortal weakness and place an unusual reliance on technology and equipment. But they do so in awesome lime green armor.
They are recently known for their involvement in the Badab war.
