"The time for war has not yet come, but it will come, and that soon; and when it does come, my advice is to draw the sword and throw away the scabbard."

– Thomas "Stonewall" Jackson

The M36 90mm GMC, aka the Slugger (and also Jackson after Gen. Thomas 'Stonewall' Jackson), was an American tank destroyer in service with the US army during WWII and the Korean War. It was notorious for its powerful 90mm cannon.

The stats

14 Muthafuckin Anti-Tank, this thing will REAM most that it faces, unfortunately, due to American tank destroyers exemplifying the term "glass cannon" don't expect it to last long if the enemy manages to get their guns in the general direction of this puppy. However, with Seek, Strike, and Destroy and careful positioning, expect to run circles around most foes while picking them off via blitz and shoot & scoot.

IRL[edit | edit source]

The M36 was first a planned replacement for the M10, which was determined to be rapidly entering obsolescence. A new vehicle was conceived armed with the M1 90mm AT gun upon a modified M10 chassis to address this issue. A Browning M2 MG was strapped to the top to shred infantry and aircraft in typical tradition. Some versions had a standard .30 cal Browning MG due to some Slugger's being built out of reclaimed Sherman chassis. In tradition with American Tank Destroyers, the Slugger had a relatively high speed to fit American Tank Destroyer doctrine.

Due to logistics, equipment prioritization, and no pressing need, the Slugger was delayed from entering Europe until 1944, when it would become a substantial boost to allied morale. The Slugger was more than capable of sniping any Fascist tank from a reasonable distance, being armed with a cannon larger than even the Tiger. It could deal with Panthers, Tigers, and Kingtigers with reasonable efficiency.

Post-war, the United States shipped the things to allied and other countries for use in their militaries. In Korea, the last war where it was fielded by the US, it scored an impressive tally of kills due to the godless communists wrongly thinking their puny tanks stood a chance versus 9cm of supersonic death.
