The QF-17 pounder AT gun was the most powerful allied AT gun in the war and used exclusively by the British army. It served as the primary armament for the Archer tank destroyer and the Achilles, a British variant of the American M10.

IRL[edit | edit source]

Even during the devlopment of the QF 6-pounder, it was realized that it would be inadequate against the new German armor being deployed. Thusly, they decided to make a gun that shot a shell almost 3 times the weight of that flimsy pea shooter. Early weapons were rushed into service without a proper carriage due to the appearance of Tiger tanks in the Africa Campaign.

The design proved to be the most successful of the war for the allies, and saw use as an assault gun, due to the raw firepower. It was so useful that there were entire efforts to get the thing mounted on tracks so they could send more fascists back into Pretzeland, with notable examples being the Achilles, Archer, and the Sherman Firefly.

The design stayed with the British army until Korea, where it was replaced by the QF 20-pounder. The gun also saw service in the Australian and Israeli armies, with the Australians experimenting with mounting it on a tank, though these never went beyond the trial phase.
