The Eightbound
Most Possessed Marines usually have one Daemon to occupy within their bodies and cooperate on an equal basis. Not these bad motherfuckers. No, The Eightbound are a group of absolute hardcore badasses that has not one, but eight Daemons of Khorne each battling over one another and the host for supremacy of control. And the hosts win enough control by sheer willpower.
Overview[edit]
These scary bastards were born from the efforts of the World Eaters Berserker surgeons, who took the most savage of the Legion’s Berserker warriors and locked them in a sarcophagus made out Khornate brass called an Eightcage. There the warrior would have probes and needles interface with their Butchers Nails, plunging the victim into a battle for their very soul. Exposed to the madness of the Warp, some would find their souls transported to engage in battle in blood-soaked arenas while others would instead find themselves forced to withstand torture at the hands of Daemons. Those that fail these trials whatever form they may take would meet gruesome fates, with some vanishing entirely while others being reduced to a bloody mess. However those that are victorious would emerge a changed warrior, having been possessed by not one but EIGHT separate Bloodletter Daemons! As you might expect from hardcore brotherfuckers such as them, this makes them some of the most terrifying combatants in the galaxy – warriors locked in a constant battle for their own souls. By having the power of eight Daemons inside their bodies, the Eightbound can exploit the strength of these Daemons and augment his strength to superhuman heights even by the transhuman standards of a Space Marine.
Wearing modified and random pieces of Chaos Power Armour, these elites wield a plethora of chain weapons befitting for Khorne. Weapons include the quintessential Chain Axes, Chain Glaive/Chain Spear and Chainswords for maximum RIP AND TEAR.
Also, these guys are absolute UNITS, seriously, I guess one upside of having that much Daemons inside you is that you get a sudden growth spurt.
Crunchwise, 9th Edition wise, they're making some serious work though, as each one is S6 with some deadly eviscerators with AP-3 D2 that give extra attacks while the champion is armed with Dual Lacerators (high damage) or Heavy Chainglaives (high attack volume). They also come with a strat for early strategic reserves, but it’s incredibly situational and you still need to pay CP to put them in reserves.
Exalted Eightbound[edit]
While most times the former Berserkers who undergo this procedure find their souls locked in a constant battle to control their own bodies sometimes the human spirit of an Eightbound World Eater can overpower the daemons and emerge triumphant, becoming one with the eight neverborn sharing its physical form. This process transforms the once mortal soul into a full blown daemon making them faster, stronger and more lethal than even other Possessed.
The end result is a being far more dangerous than most of its kind, making them juggernauts of RIP AND TEAR that could benchpress and suplex even Greater Possessed on a Tuesday afternoon and capable of warp striking in to ruin their opponent’s day. Their chain weapons have permanently become part of their bodies whilst new ones sprout from their limbs. If you want baby Mutilators, these are the chaps to follow.
Tl;dr, when you absolutely, positively have to ferociously eviscerate every enemy on the battlefield – send in The Eightbound, who come as a set of three.
Crunchwise, in 9th Edition, they are basically Khorne Greater Possessed. While only stuck with a 3+ save, they get S6 T5 to make them even deadlier in a fight, especially with their own Chainfists which are every bit as deadly as their terminator brethren's with S+3 AP-4 D2 without any penalties to hit. With a 4++ and Warp Strike, you can pop these bad boys 9” from someone and have your opponent panic as they are unable to fall back from combat. Even better is if you give one of them a second fist, making them D3 and capable of eradicating Custodians in one swing.
