The Corpse Grinder Intiate or Grinder Initiate, or simply Initiate are the baby Hannibal Lectors of the Corpse Grinder Cults.

Overview

Initiates are the Juves of the gang and are the only fighters that can take pistols – the rest of the gang can only take close combat weapons, making them literally the only range-dominated unit of the entire cult. They also wear this strange-looking helmet that resembles more like a Sontaran or something from Mad Max.

As the biggest newbies of the block, an Initiate can either be some young lad born within the Cult or some cannibal enthusiasts who like to pledge himself to Khorneflakes himself. Due to their youth, they are ironically the only folks who actually interact with the wider Necromundan society without going all OMNOMNOM on the local populace at first sight. So they are the only ones who can actually trade with vendors. As such, they carry weapons deemed as 'unmanly' for Khorne. This includes Hand Flamers, Autopistols, Stub Guns, Harpoon Launchers, Webbers, Plasma Guns, Grenade Launchers, Imperial Boltguns and Sawn-Off Shotguns. They aren't slouches in close-combat either, as befitted for these Khornate cultists, as each one of them wield the deadly Boning Swords.

Crunch

On Necromunda, Initiates are God-tier, especially when it comes to Juves. costing only 25 credits, a Initiate includes improved armour (5+ save, 4+ against blasts), a statline equal to most mainline gangers not juves, and the Infiltrate skill which quickly get into a good position to lay down covering fire for the rest of the cult.

As well as being a good solid tactical advantage for attacking the enemy, Infiltrate trivialises half the missions in the game. Infiltrate aside, the package Initiates get is extremely good. Although you may not start with long-range firepower in your gang, you can certainly compete on numbers, and it doesn’t mean your fighters are trash, either.
