This Article is a Work In Progress! |
Inspired by Fantasy Flight Games' Deathwatch Role-playing Game's Space Marine Chapter Creation Tables, these tables let you roll up (or otherwise generate) your very own Votann League. Likely best used for your tabletop army, as there is no current RPG that contains Votann (Other than a Wrath & Glory Homebrew that is actually quite decent), but that doesn't mean you can't homebrew something!
Roll on the Planet generator and System generator (filling out those spots already rolled here) tables for additional fluff not provided here.
| When Was Your League Founded? (d100)
| 1-5
15th-25th Millennium; Age of Founding - Created during the Founding, your League has been around since before Leagues were properly established during the Age of Isolation. This is likely due to some mission that the members of you League were sent on, that they could not accomplish alone, and instead banded together to complete it.
| 6-40
25th-26th Millennium; Age of Isolation - Created during the time that the Leagues were cut off from Terra, you League has the same origin as most of the other Leagues.
| 41-60
26th-27th Millennium; Age of Trade - Your League was created during the time where the Warp Storms of the Age of Strife abated enough to allow Warp Travel. It was also during this time that the Kin established Trade with human colonies they could find, as well as the beginnings of their dealings with the Aeldari.
| 61-80
27th-30th Millennium; Age of Wars - Your League was created during the time when Orks ravaged the Galactic Core, and destroyed many Hold Worlds, resulting in a grudge that has yet to be settled. Your League probably has a greater than normal hatred of Orks.
| 81-95
30th-31st Millennium; Age of Rediscovery - Your League was created during the time that the Imperium rediscovered the Kin, nominally the Cloneskein known as the Squats. Because of this, your League likely has a trade relationship with the Imperium... and a larger than normal dislike of the Mechanicus.
| 95-100
32nd-42nd Millennum; Age of the Imperium - One of the more recent Leagues, you are likely seen by your brethren as young upstarts, and are likely expansionist and warlike in nature, due to the need for resources in this new age.
To be Transparent, some of the Old Squat Lore is used here, as the League of Votann Books and other Lore don't exactly have a timeline of what happened to them, so we will be using an Edited version of the Squat Lore, cos why not?
| Why Was Your Leauge Founded? (d10)
| 1-5
Votann Protection - "We have a Votann, join us, and help us protect it!"
| 6-8
Enemy Threat - "If we don't band together, this enemy will destroy us all!"
| 9-10
Hostile Acquisitions - "We need to take all of those resources, lets team up!"
| Every League has a great hero- who is yours? (d6)
| 1
A Kâhl. Warlord, politician, champion, much is expected of these mighty figures- yet among those who claim the title, one stands out.
| 2
A Grimnyr. The Votaan is not easily impressed, yet this one did something astounding.
| 3
A Brôkhyr Iron-Master. When the enemy threatened all the League held dear, this one put down his wrench and stepped up.
| 4
An Einhyr Champion. An elite member of an already elite group, this one has carved a legend that has yet to be equalled.
| 5
A Theyn. A humble rank for a legend, yet even the mightiest weapon starts as nothing more than a lump of raw ore.
| 6
Someone unusual became a legend. Be it a pilot of a Hekaton Land Fortress, the leader of a Hernkyn Yaegir band, or even a humble Ironkin, greatness has bloomed where even the Votaan did not expect.
| What did this legend do? (d10)
| 1
Breaker of Men - This champion broke the back of an Imperial Crusade so thoroughly the humans hate and fear their name to this day.
| 2
Slayer of Orks - This champion slew the vile greenskins in great numbers that to this day, any time an ork wants "a proppa fight" against "the stunties" they seek this champion out.
| 3
The Bane of The Bane - This champion is a proud hunter of the Tyranid menace. Hive Tyrants, the Swarmlord, and even entire Hive Fleets may have fallen before this champion.
| 4
Craftworld Cracker - This champion led a successful boarding action against a perfidious Aeldari craftworld, inflicting such casualties the knife-ears hold a special hatred for them.
| 5
Anathema of Chaos - This champion slew a mighty champion of Chaos, and even Daemons will think twice before engaging.
| 6
Settled Debts - This champion did something truly unexpected- they fully settled one of the many grudges held by the League.
| 7
"We're Rich!" - This champion secured a vast deposit of wealth for the League. Be it promethean mines, metal-rich asteroids, or even the taking of a resource rich solar system, the League's fortunes have been secured for generations to come.
| 8
Extinction - This champion led the utter destruction of a minor xenos species, so thoroughly eradicating it that to this day only the League remembers its name.
| 9
Champion of the Dark Age - This champion slaughtered the forces of the Adeptus Mechanicus in such numbers that the cogheads have placed them at the top of their shit list.
| 10
Living Legend - This champion led the League to glory time and again, until the day they were brought down by the League's enemies. Now all new cloneskins use this champion as a template, and the League is slowly being populated by little replicas of this hero.

League Fleet/Hold World Properties[edit | edit source]
Tactical and Strategic Organization[edit | edit source]
| How strong are your dorfs? (d6)
| 1
Endangered. The League's numbers have been badly depleted and is on the verge of being wiped out.
| 2
Below average. The League has suffered some casualties due to the tides of war.
| 3-4
Average strength. "200,000 clone units are ready, and a million more are well on the way."
| 5
Above average. Whether through good fortune or increased production, the League's ranks have grown.
| 6
Extreme strength. All foes will be slain. All grudges will be settled. All Brü will be drunk.
Best Clients of the League (Allies)[edit | edit source]
| Favored Clients (d100)
| 1-13
Another League - Kin always trusts Kin.
| 14-26
Imperium – They don't trust us that much, but they know a good deal when they see one and give plenty up front for our tech and there is always a planet that needs what we have and has what we need (or connections to another one). The smart ones know to keep their mouths shut, which is priceless in a client.
| 27-39
Astartes - They're not the sort to buy from us, but there's no denying their effectiveness in the battlefield. More useful to facilitate a connection to other Imperial humans, but reasonable chapters won't say no to intel or fire support.
| 40-52
Eldar – They're insufferable in their piousness, so they're only as good as their word. Once they pay us, they're as good as enemies.
| 53-66
Tau – Their tech is alarmingly familiar to our own, so they might have already dealt with other Kin in the past. At least they ask the fewest questions about what we want and what we provide.
| 67-80
Other – They may not be the most prominent of powers, but there's still a profit to be made with them... (roll on the Minor Xenos Species table below).
| 81-100
None – For one reason or another you aren't keen on taking clients. Maybe you've been scammed one too many times to trust someone again, maybe you're not in a good position supply-wise to offer services to another. Or maybe you just have grudges against everyone.
Begrudged Enemies of the League[edit | edit source]
| The League holds many grudges but this one stands out above them all (d100)
| 1-20
The Imperium of Man - One crusade too many has been launched against the League, and it's time for some payback. This could be against a particular Imperial Guard regiment or general, an Inquisitor who blew up a few too many holds (or even a Votaan), or a Sister of Battle convent.
| 21-50
Orks - All greenskins are worthy of hate, but one particular WAAAGH! or Warboss really got under your (clone)skin.
| 51-55
Chaos - The Leagues don't usually go out of their way to fight Chaos. Usually. Whoever sparked this grudge- a renegade chapter, a particular Chaos Lord or Daemon Prince, or even a Traitor Legion- you will not rest until their heads are impaled on their own spikes.
| 56-60
Adeptus Mechanicus - Whether it be a particular Magos or an entire Forge World, you will show these soulless vassals of the Omnissiah who the true heir of the Dark Age is.
| 61-75
Aeldari - It doesn't matter if it was a Farseer, an Aspect Warrior, or an entire Craftworld- these knife-ears did something to earn your wrath, and now you'll stop at nothing to destroy them.
| 66-70
Adeptus Astartes - A particular Loyalist chapter earned your ire. However they did it, you will not rest until every battle-brother of this chapter is slain and their stocks of gene-seed are destroyed.
| 71-75
Drukhari - Nobody likes them- but you REALLY don't like them.
| 76-80
Tyranids - There aren't that many Hive Fleets in the Galactic core, and the Hive Mind usually knows better than to engage the Leagues. However, your League has suffered under the Great Devourer, and you will not let that stand.
| 81-90
Necrons - Perhaps a Tomb World awoke and stole one of your worlds. Perhaps they descended and inflicted grievous damage on your holdings. Whatever the case, some dynasty's insults must be answered.
| 91-95
The Tau - "I'll tell ya where ye can stick that 'Greater Good' of yers!".
| 95-99
A Fellow League - Inter-League conflict is rare, but when it happens, it is devastsating.
| 100
Minor Xenos Species - Their presence looms large only in your book of grudges. Roll on the table below.
