Jagerkins are former Astra Militarum Guardsmen, who are the bonded servants of Necromunda's House Greim. Yes, believe it or not, Imperial Guardsmen can indeed retire.
Overview[edit]
They serve as bodyguards to the Houses inexperienced Krieg Mesters, when they are sent to the dangerous Underhive. There, the Jagerkin ensure the Mesters safety, while they accompany House Greim friendly gangs into battle.
Due to the fact that they are ex-Guardsmen, this immediately puts them as the elite warriors by Necromunda standards. As such, they retain many of the equipment of the Guard which is on average, leaps and bounds above that of a typical Necromundan scav. First off, as (Most likely) ex-Guard from the Necromundan regiment, Jagerkins do not wear your typical Flak Armour, but Imperial Mesh Armour instead. Moreover, they are armed with Combat Shotguns equipped with advance Salvo and Shredder rounds which will easily perforate any enemies that get too close. Secondly, their institutional training makes these guys one of the most lethal killers in the Underhive, as they fight like actual soldiers. This makes them one of the best bodyguards one could get - yes, even more than the Palanite Enforcers - short off a Space Marine retinue.
Trivia[edit]
- It is possible that Jagerkin is a corruption of the word Jaeger Kin. Which translates to Hunter Kin.
Crunch[edit]
On Necromunda, Jagerkin is more of a traditional brawler, with a suit of Mesh Armor and a Combat Shotgun that can perforate anyone attempting a charge at the Krieg Mester. Their purpose is to obviously keep the Krieg Mester safe, so that he can continue to shout orders to nearby gangers for as long as possible.
