Nilshai , also known as Ethereal Theurges , are a species of trilaterally symmetrical, worm-like aberrations who inhabit the Ethereal Plane . Powerful mages , they regularly invade the material plane to take humanoid slaves.
They first appeared in Dungeons & Dragons 3rd Edition , making their debut in the "Unapproachable East " splatbook for Forgotten Realms , and were then expanded upon in the 3e splatbook Lords of Madness .
