The Storm Wardens are a rather curious Chapter like the Blood Ravens, in that they were made for a specific company (in this case, Fantasy Flight Games) for use in their Deathwatch RPG. They even tried tying it into the larger 40K RPG Canon by placing their homeworld, Sacris, in the Calixis Sector, where Dark Heresy takes place. However, unlike those Magpies, the Wardens weren't getting any more popular. They just remained... There. As such, they're a rather isolationist chapter.
History
Chapter Organization
The first really stand-out deviation from the basic Codex-adhering chapter is their extra Techmarines and closer-than-usual ties to the Mechanicus. However, this is usually explained by their style of combat, which requires some serious maintenance to their tanks.
The other major deviation is in their Veteran Squads, which have special groups called Tempest Blades. These guys wield insanely big two-handed claymores (Or other equally huge weapons) that are as tall as they are and go to town on the biggest and toughest enemies they can find by caber toss the heaviest ones. This sort of position is a generational sort of deal, as the Tempest Blades must nominate someone from within the Chapter to carry on their legacy at any cost, even if it ends up getting them in a Dreadnought.
Combat Doctrine
The Wardens work in a pretty pragmatic fashion. First, they bombard the place with their ships. Then, while the enemy's still in shock, they shell them with Predators and Land Raiders, which keep the Rhinos and Razorbacks alive long enough to let them unload their troops. Being the SPEHSS BRAVEHEARTS, their preferred method of combat is one-on-one honourable swordfighting. This sort of martial honour has raised a few questions over their lineage in relation to a certain seriously pissed-off motherfucker, but they've proven to be rather passable enough to not get any undue attention. Their preferred weaponry is a Power Weapon of some sort and a Storm Shield.
Famous Wardens
Dougie McIsaac - Known for tossing a Chaos Terminator Lord to his doom.
Guts - Seriously, have you seen his sword and height? The only thing he is missing is his power armor.
Tarvish Degroot - An oddity amongst the the Storm Wardens in that he is a Black Scottish Cyclops
