In Dungeons & Dragons, Sehanine Moonbow (often referred to as "Sehanine" or "the Moonbow") is the goddess of Autumn, Twilight, Dreams, Illusions and funnily enough: the Moon.
She is a member of the Seldarine and is regarded as the mother of the Elven races. Depending on the religion, she is often considered to be either the waifu or the daughter of Corellon Larethian, possibly meaning that the Elves could be a product of incest.
History
When the Gods first winked into existence, they set about crafting the universe. Sehanine put her lot in with the other deities that would be later considered "Elven" and started calling themselves the Seldarine.
She had the major hots for their leader: Corellon Larethian, but unfortunately for her, he was already enamoured by the deeply sexy and alluring Araushnee, while Sehanine was considered the odd blue haired nerdy girl who was content to let the others do the heavy lifting and contributed very little to the act of creation other than a few prophetic fan fics and moody poetry.
Later, she uncovered the fact that Araushnee was secretly banging the edgy bad-boy Fenmarel Mestarine behind Corellon's back. But said nothing about it while Araushnee let herself be "captured" by the pantheon jock: Gruumsh.
Corellon fought to get his cheating spouse back, not realising that she was secretly trying to have him killed so she could claim the whole of creation without having to resort to a messy divorce. But of course, as an Elf, he was therefore Gay and not capable of taking Gruumsh alone.
Enter Sehanine: who was so distraught over the pain inflicted to the object of her affections, who was the protagonist of so many of her blog posts and fan fictions, that her tears were enough to rejuvenate the broken Corellon into one last burst of effort. Where in a single stroke, he managed to thrust with his big, giant, well-oiled, magnificent, longsword into Gruumsh's face.
...and incidentally took out his eye, but that's by the by. Though Gruumsh bears a grudge for the attempted violation, and Araushnee was expelled from the Seldarine after the whole Scooby villain plot was exposed. And she would have gotten away with it too if not for that pesky Sehanine. Araushnee moved away with the kids and changed her name to Lolth so that Corellon would not be able to find her.
Sehanine then got her wish and became the waifu of Corellon, her fluids mingling with his fluids to create the Elven race or something, then she lived happily ever after.
Aspects of Aspects
In the Forgotten Realms setting, Sehanine is an aspect of a deity called Selûne, who is the Goddess of the Moon in general, and represents something a little more primordial. Elves, not being content to share their mythological origins with the other races just slapped on all the mystical dream crap after fact in order to make it more Fey. So Sehanine is apart from Selûne, but is a part of her at the same time, like a feminine Jesus.
Not content with being an aspect of just one deity, Elves also revere Sehanine as her very own aspect of Angharradh "The Triune Goddess". Which is what you get when you combine Sehanine with the other feminine Elven Goddesses: Hanali Celanil (Goddess of Love) and Aerdrie Faenya (Goddess of Air), who themselves are considered to be aspects of the more general Goddesses Sune and Akadi respectively.
Those three only combine this way in their Elven forms because of the compulsive need for Elves to Mary Sue. Angharradh is the ultimate queen of Arvandor and the only true wife that Corellon really deserves, but she isn't really the goddess of anything specific other than the protection and promotion of Elves. Her clerics are usually also clerics for one of her other forms.
Realm
As an aspect of other powers, but as well as being a power in her own right, the Moonbow shares a few divine realms.
As the spouse of Corellon, she shares the Elven court with him and hangs out in Arvandor, in both her Moonbow and her Triune Goddess forms. Though since Hanali Celanil and Aerdrie Faenya haven't been connected to Corellon romantically, its unclear whether the the Triune Goddess shares his bed. Possibly having relations with three Elven babes by proxy through a fourth.
As Selune, the Moonbow has her very own pocket of Ysgard called the Gates of the Moon which a realm of floating rock and ocean under a perpetual night sky, which is bound by its own unique set of rules:
- Werecreatures have full control over their abilities while in the divine realm.
- Any arcane spell cast needs a particular school trigger, which you need to learn from the locals, who happen to be angelic beings like Planetars, Lillends and Celestial Werewolves, so you can't come here to cause mayhem.
- Divine spellcasters lose their abilities dependent on the relative distance between their own deity and Ysgard.
- Any summoning spell always summons Einheriar.
