Harakon
"I used to bullseye vapourwyrms in my grav-glider back home. They're not much bigger than two meters."
- – Harakoni Warhawk Lukas Airstrider discussing the weak point of a Necron World Engine.
"Harakonari an tellika regala!"
- – You're either being invited to a party or told to go fuck yourself. Your guess is as good as ours.
Harakon is an Imperial Hive World most famous for producing the elite Harakoni Warhawks.
Overview[edit | edit source]
Harakon is a low-gravity world, and as a result its hive spires reach high into the planet's upper atmosphere. Far below the tips of these spires exist endless mountain ranges infested by a native lifeform known as vapourwyrms. Young Harakoni use small personal aircraft known as grav-gliders to swoop through the mountain valleys and passes while hunting the wyrms, which gives them an innate affinity for high altitudes and judging air currents. In turn, this makes the planet an excellent recruiting ground for the Imperial Guard. Harakon's regiments are known as the Warhawks. They are classed as heavy drop infantry. This means that Harakoni troopers are universally issued with carapace armour, instead of the usual t-shirts worn by most Imperial Guardsmen. They also make extensive use of Tempestus Scions and heavy weapons and prefer small-unit tactics; think of them as the Parachute Regiment or 101st Airborne to the straight-leg infantry divisions of the British and American armies.
Little is known of Harakon's culture save that the dominant dialect of Gothic on the planet is known as Konndar. This dialect is completely unintelligible to anyone not from the planet, so the Warhawks naturally think it's hilarious to speak exclusively in Konndar when they're around other Guard regiments, who will generally just stare at them in total confusion.
