The effective range of most races Teleporting technology is fairly limited, only a few tens of thousands of kilometers at the most ([[Dawn of War|there are exceptions though]]). This is a hell of a lot shorter then it sounds when you remember that space is big. Really big. You just won't believe how vastly, hugely, mind-bogglingly big it is.
