Snotling

Snotlings encountering their more common fate in war. Note that this picture is not wholly accurate, as the average snotling would not realize that being fired from a Shokk Attack Gun is something to avoid until it's about to be shot out of said gun.

Oh boy, you thought Gretchins get no respect? Snotlings are literally the icky paste at the bottom of the barrel of an Ork hierarchy. Being viewed as nothing more then diminutive and immature Gretchins, these poor sobs get picked on and bullied by literally everyone within Ork society even the most wimpiest of Grots still have some sense of use.

To make a long storyshort, life for a Snotling is even worse than a Grot. Their role in an Ork ecosystem are essentially caretakers of fungi and squigs, and occasionally serve as food for said squigs. While Gretchin form the menial laborers and slaves of Orkoid society, Snotlings are nothing more than semi-intelligent pets at best and food at worst. And unlike their somewhat larger and more cunning cousins, Snotlings are as dumb as a brick and blissfully ignorant of any form of danger until it's about to kill them. These guys are the dudes that just have to be pitied.

Battlefield Roles

Cannon fodder of a cannon fodder, that's it. Snotlings are so useless in a battlefield that even Grots consider them as cannon fodder. Since their simpletons, they are often armed with very basic (As in very basic) weaponry such as sticks, sharp rocks, or a wet sock. Obviously they would deal as much threat as a very angry kitten individually, but in practice they come in ludicrous numbers, resulting often in drowning their enemies in blood and bodies.

The Shokk-Attack Gun uses Snotlings as ammunition; while grots could theoretically be used, they're smart enough to stay away from any Mek who needs ammunition for it. In the unlikely event the Snotling "ammo" survives its trip through the Warp, it almost always loses what little sanity it possesses and blindly attacks anything nearby. Needless to say, this never ends well for them.

Why it sucks to be a Snotling

Meet the most pitiful race to ever come out of WH40K.

• You're at the literal bottom of the food chain.
• You have almost no use at all.
  • The little use you have is often ignored completely.
• You are dog food for a vast majority of cultivated Squigs, including the ones you're supposed to be cultivating.
• Even Gretchins bully you.
• When you fall asleep in the fungus gardens, the next thing you realize once you wake up is that you are suddenly turned into a 'snotshroom'.
  • Yes, even simple fungi will kill you.
• You're as dumb as a brick and won't notice anything until it is too late.
• You're nothing more than ammunition in the battlefield.
• You're considered cannon fodder even by the standards of other cannon fodder.
  • Seriously, you are going up against Titans, tanks and supersoldiers with a stick and a piece of glass. Even Grots get to use knives and the occasional gun.
• You may get accidentally stepped/crushed on and nobody would even notice you, let alone care.
• You look like a Gretchin fetus.
• You will grow up as a size of a house cat.
