Ryphorians, originally called Triaxians, are the dominant humanoid race of the planet Triaxus, the seventh planet in the Golarion solar system. Fundamentally, they resemble anime elves, with elongated ears notched in a comblike or vaguely feathered pattern. However, the ryphorians are a trimorphic species, due to their homeworld having an erratic elliptical orbit that causes it to undergo decades-long winters and summers, with relatively brief springs and autumns. Ryphorians born during the intense heat and pronounced days of the summer, or "Summerborn", sport large eyes that can better handle the glare, little to no body hair, and dark skin to ward off the extreme heat. Their "Winterborn" counterparts have smaller, narrowed eyes to combat snow-dazzling and are covered from head to toe in a coat of dense white fur to keep them warm. Transitional (spring or autumn-born) Ryphorians are the rarest subrace, typically only existing for a single generation; it's never spelled out what exactly they look like, but presumably they look like a halfway point between Summerborn and Winterborn; Transitionals born in the autumn are often subjected to superstitious loathing and dread, as their appearance indicates the coming of winter, whilst spring-born are instead revered as a sign that the harsh winter is finally ending.

The Ryphorians first appeared in Pathfinder 1st edition, in the splatbook "People of the Stars" and in the adventure module "The Frozen Stars", part 4 of the Reign of Winter Adventure Path. They were later updated to Starfinder in "Alien Archive #1". In the Character Operations Manual, it was also revealed that Ryphorians can also cross-breed with Elves to produce Half-Elves.

Winterborn Triaxians can exist comfortably in conditions between 40 and –20 degrees Fahrenheit without having to attempt Fortitude saves.
