Cyberarachnid

Cyberarachnid or Cyberachnid are bionic creatures used by House Van Saar on Necromunda as their equivalent of House Orlock's Cyber-Mastiff, and is every arachnophobe's worst nightmare.
Overview[edit | edit source]
Necromundan Giant Spiders are common throughout the lower levels of Necromunda, and House Van Saar often will modify them cybernetically to perform a variety of purposes, most notably as Servitors or attack dogs spiders. As you can already tell from the helmet visage of the Imperial Mesh Armour, to their House's emblem, and the Arachni-rig, Van Saar has a hard-on for spiders. This isn't surprising as spiders mean much to the Hive World of Necromunda, with Van Saar being the most reverent of them all.
As a giant cybernetic spider, they need numbers to make them effective, fortunately, Van Saar have been able to install these spiders with auspex bafflers, vox casters, venom injectors placed in their pneumatic piston fangs, along with cyclic web throwers which allows these creatures to spit spider's web, makes them a small, portable, mobile and organic Webber gun.
Moreover, Van Saar also equip them with a scuttler rig that can handle dozens of terrain configurations. They usually accompany an Augmek for either protection or to provide suppressive fire.
Crunch[edit | edit source]
On Necromunda, Cyberarachnids are least expensive of all the House Pets. It’s not a monster, but it’s a lot more combat-capable than, say, a Cephalopod Spekter. The Cyberachnid grants Fearsome to both itself and its owner, making it a tempting acquisition for a more forward-oriented champion as an anti-charge tool. The ranged attack, a Strength 2 template, isn’t particularly likely to cause any actually webbing, but the guaranteed pinning will definitely cause trouble for your opponent. Melee is much the same, with a single Toxin attack making close combat while one of these things is lurking around a risky proposition.
Overall, the Cyberachnid isn’t too bad. They’re not going to be of much use to snipers, but any of your mid-field champions or leader can definitely benefit from the potential threat that these things present, and they’re priced reasonably enough that they’ll be affordable by mid–campaign, rather than far later on.
