Hive Preacher is a Hanger-On exclusive to House Cawdor of Necromunda.

Overview[edit | edit source]

An average Hive Preacher is a fanatical rabble-rouser and a maniac, but to say they are just a bit overzealous in their duties would be an understatement. When fervent murderhobos look at a person and think "Damn, they need to chill", you know someone is really bonkers.

Unlike most Hanger-Ons, Priests don't care about such frivolous concepts as "safety" or "providing passive bonuses". No, they go straight into the thick of it swinging a giant Two-Handed Hammer relying on the Emperor and their flock for protection. Needless to say, their pre-battle sermons are a little on "Kill them all and let the Emperor sort them out" side.

Since they're batshit insane, only Outlaw Cawdor gangs employ these fanatics. They are rewarded with an increased amount of miracles, since the faith of these men and women burns thrice as strong. Oh, and then there is a point of their opponents being pulverized with a giant hammer. Can't have enough of that.

Same as other House Cawdor-exclusive Hanger-Ons, Hive Preacher doesn't have a model.

Crunch[edit | edit source]

Unfortunately, for all their awesome fluff, Hive Preacher simply doesn't give enough bang for their buck. For 70 credits, you get a Ganger with a Two-Handed Hammer and Inspiring Skill. Yes, they count as three models when rolling Faith dice, but so does a humble Bonepicker doing Beseech the God-Emperor action. Yes, they give you D6 Faith dice at the end of the Pre-Battle Sequence, but is it really worth a Hanger-On slot? Their combat stats also leave a lot to be desired, because 4+ WS and a Two-Handed Hammer mean they'll be hitting on 5+. Add 1 Attack base and you're looking at a very mediocre frontline fighter, and the one that doesn't gain experience or can't modify their Wargear at that.
