Deacons are the Champions of Necromunda's Redemption Cult-members of House Cawdor.

Overview[edit | edit source]

They are former members of the Cult's Redemptionist Brethren, whose deeds in battle have risen them up to stand above the common rabble. To say Deacons have a talent for violence is to do them a disservice and they are always at the forefront of any Redemptionist assault. Armed with fire and fury, they show the Brethren of their gang how to wage war to the Cult's foes.

Due to the higher position, they are armed with more devastating weapons. This includes Grenade Launchers, Firepikes, Pump-Action Shotguns, Eviscerator and Chainaxe, all of which have an attached Exterminator, alongside Smoke Grenades. This is also where they start donning the infamous blow torch helmets. Their close-combat nature truly makes them the Yin to the Cawdor Firebrand's Yang.

In a Redemptionist Gang troupe, there is always one Deacon assisting the Redemptor Priest.

Crunch[edit | edit source]

On Necromunda, Deacons are very good units that have substantially better skills than their lesser brethren, with access to the Piety tree, but lacks access to the Cawdor heavy crossbow. However, Deacons can somewhat make up for that with access to the grenade launcher, which trades armour piercing for insane horde clearing. The only issue with that, however, is that a Redemptionist model with a grenade launcher doesn’t currently exist due to GeeDubs incompetence, so you gonna need to either get a third-party of mix-and-match from the Imperial Guard model set. Or you can steal salvage one from your friends, since other gangs have them.

Likewise, Scavenger’s Eye is a decent upgrade to boost your Deacon's weapons, as they can passively buff credit rewards from the relative safety of the back of your own deployment zone. If you decide to go with a melee Deacon, you will have the option to choose Devotional Frenzy which will let you Deacon hit like an Assault Terminator, just don't expect them to last as they are gonna be the first ones being gunned down, so overall, a pretty expensive DISTRACTION CARNIFEX that is actually surprisingly points-efficient. Don't forget his basic WS is 4+ though, a bad roll can spell your doom in one turn.
