The frontman of the flaming torch head fetishists.

Redemptor Priest or Redemptionist Priest are the spiritual head of House Cawdor and the equivalent of the wider Imperium's Ecclesiarch. They are true fanatics of the faith and also lead its gangs into battle in Necromunda.

Overview[edit | edit source]

Without exception, they are dangerous individuals who follow one of the extreme paths based on an obscure reference or inference from the holy book of the Redemption. When needed to, each Redemptor Priest is capable of raising a mob of angry Hivers, with an impassioned sermon, or personally delivering justice with flame and blood.

Unlike their poorer bretheren, Priest can buy actual armour, up to and including Light Carapace (Well...bits of it). With their silly flaming torch helmets, these guys are batshit loco enough to ignore all but the most grievous of injuries and keep charging forward, and one skill from Piety allows them to outright ignore all the effects of being on fire besides damage. To best complement their fight style and pyrophilia that could give a Sisters of Battle a run for her money, these Priests can be armed with a Chainaxe with attached Exterminator or Eviscerator, a Firepike (no, not that one) and a belt of Frag Grenades and Smoke Grenades.

By far the most well known of these Priests is Klovis the Redeemer who carries a book of tortures called the Liber Excruciatus.

Crunch[edit | edit source]

On the Necromunda tabletop, Redemptor Priests are a Word-Keeper on steroids, but at the same price. They carry fantastic close-combat weapons, very good access to equipment, and Primary skill access to the new Piety skill tree make this the premiere choice for Cawdor leadership. In terms of tactics, Redemptor Priest is best used by leading at the front. These are frontline troops after all since they all carry Chainaxes with Exterminator attachments and Eviscerators (which in House Cawdor come equipped with a Scarce Hand Flamer). For 45 points, you can take a Pyromantic mantle (that's the giant brazier on top of the head), which optionally gives your Melee attacks Blaze, but doesn't work on reaction attacks. A bit of an overkill, to be honest, and if you're using Eviscerator's Versatile rule, there is a chance that a burning victim runs into your Priest, setting him aflame as well!

Likewise, they being Priests are can act as support units if they carry a Book of Redemption which grants any selected Cawdor fighter in 6" either the D3 re-roll on Charge, or a single re-roll of a natural 1 for Hit. It's a bit underwhelming for a Basic action, to be honest. Moreover, they are also allowed to have their own choir of Cherubims, which are really, really good defensive upgrades.
